I can't talk about NeoGAF, but on all other sites I visited today people liked SM3DWorld. They were a bit disappointed by the graphics, but thrilled by the 4-player MP. Not at all like the hate it received here...

Overall I think most people are disappointed with the game. I'm not hearing anyone saying the game will suck (in fact most people are saying the game looks fun), but they aren't really happy. I think the majority of people have mixed feelings about 3D World.

There may have been a shitstorm, but I think it was overshadowed by the DKC reveal.

Understandable. A lot of people (myself included) had high hopes for Retro Studios, but once you get pass that fact, you can see how great DKC Tropic Freeze looks.

I already expected it, but the Developer Direct pretty much confirmed that the game has elements we have not seen yet. I don't know about you, but the new power looks very fun to play with.

Also, I'm not exactly sure what it is that Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario 64, and whatever other 3D Mario game has that this game CAN'T have except for art style. We do not know for sure if there isn't an Open World system behind the selection of the worlds (because you know that's how the other 3D mario games did it). Someone please tell me what they really think it is. It's also pretty much confirmed to have new bosses instead of the koopalings as you saw in the trailer. We also must have a variant on the story if you can play as Princess Peach.

Really, at this point, we can only be disappointed at what we THINK the game will be like.

I mentioned on another thread that because the game looks aesthetically the same as 3D Land doesn't mean the game is not original gameplay wise. I'm glad they aren't using the Koopalings (unless that how it looks like), but first impressions are always very important and the trailer didn't cut it for me.

I do hope that at least there's a big overworld like Sunshine, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. I hope Nintendo proves me wrong.
