Forums - Nintendo - (Have some crow!) Nintendo showed incredible, hardcore, mature games and yet you complain about 3D Mario?

Just because they done them before doesn't mean they shouldn't do more. LIke how many platformers do we need seriously? Project Cars yes I know about it, but the fact we haven't really herd much about it since last year makes me wonder if it is still in the works or another dropped title to be added to the list.

In general it doesn't really matter, they need to be able to WOW al gamers not just the mario crowd with a sub par looking mario game because they needed to lock the camera to allow multiplayer.

ATM retro is doing sweet fuck all.DK is a waste of their talent (assuming they still got talent left in that studio and hasn't left for greener pastures).

To conclude, there is nothing on that system that will sell it beyond 30million atm in its lifetime. Which is dissapointing. All I can see is sales going further south with what we seen so far. They may as well give up on the WIi U next year and release a new console at the end of 2015.

The camera isn't locked. Well, at least not completely. Definitely less locked than 3D Land.

Nintendo could always do more, but if you constantly expect them to do more, you will be constantly disappointed. X and Bayonetta 2 already consitute more effort than what they've done for most of the Wii's life span. I was right to wait until 2010 to buy a Wii, for sure.

Retro Studios is doing what they want to do, according to what their president is saying. That, to me, is a very encouraging thing.

When you screw your most important flagship title, you can't expect nice reactions.

Mario Kart?

Mario Kart is the best selling title, but it's not the most critically acclaimed and polished series. (Even if MK8 looks amazing.)

I'm talking about 3D Mario.

I don't see the problem here, unless I forget Galaxy 2.

Then again, I did watch the "Developer's Direct", which gives some insight into why EAD Tokyo went this route.

Who cares why?

They turned Mario, the king of platformer, in a shitty, digusting multiplayer game with cats to appeal little girls.

I hope it will flop harder than NSMBU

Ouch. Not even going to play it to see if the level design is still the best in the industry?

I 100% won't play it and will differ my Wii U planned buy for a year.

The level design also looks incredibly weak.

im happy bout it, it pretty much confirms we will get Galaxy 3 in a year or two

That tends to be the case when a game developer only shows off the opening levels of their games.

COnsideirng they have like NO 3rd party support I do expect more ffrom them. They need to pull their head out of fantasy land and realise most 3rd party will never develope on their platform.

The moment they realise that is the moment they can expand their own studios and create new ones to fill this void.

I played 3D Land, so I already played 3D world, and it's a just a shame for a flagship title on a home console. Nintendo is spitting on Mario fans with that garbage for casuals only. Will wait Zelda, a true Mario or SSB to buy a Wii U.

And the developpers make it clear that it's designed for multiplayers, dumbed down platform.

Now that is true. Though I'm more intersted in seeing Nintendo buy out studios, if only to watch people cry.

If I wanted mature "hardcore" games, I'd buy a Playstation. I never asked for mature games from Nintendo. I asked for something new, whether in the form of a new IP or innovations to an old one. They somewhat delivered on Mario Kart, but I was so hyped for the new Mario platformer that it's unveiling...unhinged me.

Besides, we've already seen Project X(although it does look even more awesome here)

If you think it's the exact same thing as 3D Land, so be it.

I noted that the levels are much larger (and most likely longer, unless EAD Tokyo decides to make tons of them), and I already saw one clever 3D Land concept put to good use in multiplayer. The platforms that switch when a person jumps will be a joy to navigate when there are four people trying to overcome them.

I'm going to wait for more information before I commit to buying the game, one way or another.
