Forums - Nintendo - (Have some crow!) Nintendo showed incredible, hardcore, mature games and yet you complain about 3D Mario?

Further proof that the Nintendo fanbase is actually the least devoted of the big three, i should say. We all have very specific ideas of what we want from Nintendo and are quite impossible to please.

Nah, I'm quite pleased. It's mostly on the internet that people are just nuts.

Yes they hardcore but they either known about, ports, or rehashed mario games.

I want a FPS, a racing simulator, a mature fighter (not smash).

Agreed with OP, that Nintendo Direct showed a decent amount for Wii U

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

The problem is when there's no third party support you're reliant on Nintendo to provide new experiences. And instead what we got was a majority of games that could honestly have passed as reskinned versions of wii or 3ds games (DKCR2, Mario, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Smash).

I think Nintendo fans are used to a greater level of imagination in their games, but the old men in charge of Nintendo have well and truly soaked that out of the company.

I think Nintendo fans should actually play the games before writing them off as unimaginative. For all we know, Super Mario 3D World may have tons of great level concepts... after all, this is still the Super Mario Galaxy team. And honestly, there's nothing wrong with more Donkey Kong Country. That franchise was dead for too long, and I would hate to see it go under again.

You can't get everything you want at the same time.

Yeah good point. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Super Mario 3D Land worked well for the 3DS, I guess that's why we see it on the WiiU now. WiiU so far almost has been a carbon copy of the 3DS, so why are people confused by Nintendo taking the same approach?

We still need to learn that us hardcore fans are NOT the focus.

Maybe not the focus of 3D Mario, but c'mon, this Direct had quite a bit of fan service without it.

Yeah, but all of the hate seems to focus on the SM3DWorld. I will gladly buy almost all of the games they presented today (except Wii Fit/Party U)^^

The point is that they showed absolutely nothing surprising or new, and that's why i'm not pleased with the showing. I could have not watched anything this entire E3 from Nintendo and all i would have missed would be the DKC game, which was predictable anyway. Getting a new trailer for X was cool, but it showed me little new about the game. I was going crazy with joy when they first announced x, but this trailer just seemed like a 2nd take really. As a fan i shouldn't just have to accept everything Nintendo does.

Both games will be out this holiday season, I think.

I liked 3D World but didn't care about X.
