Forums - Sony - Driveclub free to PS+ people...

I think that the quality of the free PS4 games is going to lower than that of PS3, reason being is because of the paid multiplayer. The biggest draw for PS+ moving forward is the multiplayer, so giving out lets say Infamous Second Son 3-4 months after it launches would be a dumb decision. Most people will be getting PS+ anyways, no need to entice them any further with AAA games not long after launch.

I think the PS+ edition may be the multiplayer component of the game.

The reason I say this is because Jack Tretton mentioned in an interview that the reason they were giving away Drive Club (PS+ edition) is because they think it will build up the social community that they are trying to foster with the new PSN social capabilities.

This to me screams like multiplayer and how that's tied to PS+ now.

now that this is mandatory for online play.... what effect will this have on Software sales do we think?

serious question. It MUST have some effect.

depends on how strong Wii U will perform.

People won't switch to xbox as the situation is the same there. They will either switch to wii u or stop playing multiplayer.Right now there is few reason to switch to wii u.

therefore (mainly)single player games shouldn't  be effected in a significant way,but games that are bought because of the multiplayer may lose 10-30%.

1st we'll have to find out how many passioned sony-onlinegamers are willing to pay for ps+.

,if for example 50% won't pay for ps+ the sales for cod of course won't drop by 50% ,Now we have to find out how many of those 50% are only buying cod because of multiplayer-if half of them just buy the game because of the multiplayer they have no more reason to buy cod now.

half of 50% is 25%.-that's how much the sales could drop.

they won't have anything apart from indie titles and obviously what they have done with driveclub, have to start somewhere i guess, but if people don't want to pay for online they won't be buying plus i assume

I guess I am going to have to pay for PS Plus (I do want to use my Vita for PS4 games), but I find this game good enough looking to buy anyway. It feels such a waste, but I don't want to stop having physical copies!

I'm puzzled how PS+ works on PS4

How long before PS+ gets a new retail game usually? What content will there be for PS4 only PS+ users in the early days?

I imagine the flops are first to go on PS+.

On the Vita I think you got access to PSP games. Maybe they'll give PS4 users access to PS2 and PS3 games on teh cloud.

On VIta, they have given access to a few Vita games including Uncharted, WipeOut, Gravity Rush, Plants vs Zombies.

At launch?!

ps+ was a few months late for launch but the day it came to vita it was uncharted, gravity rush, wipeout, and 2 psp games.

no you misunderstand me.

PS+ has free games regualrly too.... won that affect game sales?

I was actually thinking about that... now xbox live also gives "free" games...

aren't people just going to wait for games to appear in their subscription? Are thirds parties going to be ok with that? Surely it will affect salesnumbers and income..   are we going to a rental service? with say 30 bucks a month unlimited access to games (with DRM) ..I can see that happening.. it's already going on with movies and streaming music..

Here are the details of the Driveclub PS+ Edition:

"The PS Plus edition of DriveClub, revealed yesterday, will – according to Evolution – be the full version of the game in terms of features and mechanics. However, it will launch with a cut-back number of tracks and cars."

PS+ versions on PS3 have typically been the full game but you only have access to it for as long as you maintain your subscription (ie you are permanently renting it rather than owning it).

Until this report from SixthAxis I'd assumed the same situation applied for DriveClub.  Would explain why Game's exclusive bundle including Killzone & DriveClub isn't a complete waste of time.
