The UK price is ridiculous. Extortion.

not really if you think a samsung galaxy s4 and an iphone are £500 + and tablets are £300-400

tablets and phones are outdated every year...

consoles are kept for years, i can play my DVD'S Blue rays cd's, memory sticks play block buster games

So i don't actually think paying £500 for a console is that bad, considering how long i will keep it and how usefull it is

By console standards it is. Didn't the xbox360 launch at £279?  Wasn't it packing better specs for its time than the Xbox one? I understand that Kinect is being packed in but £349 would have been resonable. I think the american price acceptable though.

Man... Pachter must have jinxed the pricing when he said $399 for the X1, when its now $499. Now I'm expecting $449 for the PS4 instead of $349. lol!

500$ is pretty steep no matter how one looks at it and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people (me included) will be annoyed knowing that mandatory Kinect is driving that price up. I'd much rather be able to purchase a console for 100$ less or so without Kinect that I have no interest in at all.

It's okay not to love and defend every single aspect of a console you like, especially the bad things about. The price is one of them, 500$ is a lot for a console no matter how one spins it.

Sell it any way you want, but $500 is too much. If Sony is close, then both will do mediocre for first couple of years.

Clearly we will have no "Wii-like" blockbuster this gen.

Hopefully Nintendo takes advantage and drops to $299 with packed-in Super Mario or Mario Kart this holiday.

I can see a Mario Kart bundle at 299 selling like gangbusters.

i remember the ps1 selling for around the £299 mark, I'm not justifying the price, but for whats your getting for the money, its actually pretty good

I don't see how people are happy throwing £399 at ipads to not even do half of what a console can buy they do

yawn.. truth hurts

also 1 year of live is included.

1 year = 14 days now.

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/10/xbox-one-launch-details-and-premium-day-one-bundle-announced/#qZL6tPYiXX7c1ld6.99

And now it's 14 days instead of the month trial.

Yes, but you are forgetting the inflaction. 1 year in 2005 = 14 days in 2013.

Lmao.  Dude that was gold (pun intended)

If Sony prices PS4 $499,99 it's still a better deal (for us, bad for Sony) because it's superior hardware, no?

I have no idea about PS4 price now. They want to avoid a $599,99 fiasco, after all.

I think they want to avoid the $499 fiasco, too, since that's what the PS3 launched for.

Like it really matters in the wake of a crippling recession that all three of the biggest markets are still digging out of. Europe especially, but the US isn't exactly swimming in dough right now either. And if you're talking about inflation, wages are recovering at an even slower rate than jobs are for all but the wealthy.

$500 for a console is stupid in this economy, whether Sony or MS do it--just as stupid as pricing the Vita at $250. This isn't '05-'06 anymore.
