Forums - Microsoft - Glorious prophet crazy buttocks on a train: TRUTHFACT M$ buying 3rd party to show , DRM worse than stated, LIVE paywall still exists.

MS only innovations I've seen in gaming is how to charge people extra money for no good reason. DRM brought to you by the same company that charged you to use your own internet!

Honestly, though it does seem like XBL will be providing an actual service with the cloud that could help gaming, but previously I didn't really see anything that XBL was providing as a service since OL game servers or connections were set up by the developers and publishers not MS. However, on the one it does enable game sharing more freely and provides the cloud support for gaming which does seem like they are actually providing a service for live now.

Doesn't sound like a very interesting conference on MSFTSs front. If the rumors are true then I hope they have more to show. That or I have to wonder if that 6 months behind rumor was also true.

One of the other gaffers that's prone to revealing things had this to say about DRM:

I've also heard multiple times in the last few days that the microsoft DRM news is going to get worse.

I honestly can't even imagine how it could...? Are the discs going to fucking explode?

I have no idea. The last I heard anything about sony was before I inadvertently started a rather noisy movement. Not that I regret that - it's been awesome and hopefully does some good... but I have not heard *anything* about DRM inside of sony since then. That leaky boat got plugged up quick.

I'm feeling optimistic. That doesn't really mean anything though.

Edit:

And a speculative post by the same guy:

There are an a lot of signs that we are going to get good news.

1. Yoshida making the joke about DRM (vita game) on Twitter. He isn't dumb... that would be pretty shitty if they were planning on delivering bad news.

2. OMGWTFBBQ's leak that EA is giving MS exclusives (games and DLC) because MS were pushing DRM and sony wouldn't commit to it (this was during the winter, if I understood OMG's post correctly)

3. Having not committed to it publically they've been able to watch all the feedback against MS - and then our protest - and then even more feedback against MS after they put up the website explaining it better. Can they really see all of that and think it's a good business decision?

Common sense is telling me that the PS4 will have little to no new DRM over the ps3. But, of course, Sony hasn't always been known for having common sense...

Wasn't this a user here on VGchartz as well? If so, are they the same?

Just going to point something out. He has no problem getting information except for the DRM thing being worse. I don't think that one is going to be true.

Microsoft put everything out there and explained what was going to happen.

I was drinking water. Almost died!!

I don't get why Microsoft would be the one coming up with this idea of DRM, most of the games are selling better on their system, I don't see why they would feel the need for this. :/

You know guys. You can just go to sleep, wake up, eat breakfast, then go to work/watch TV/play games/masturbate until E3 tomorrow. Doesn't that seem more productive than speculating on rumors so close to the event?

Good night.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

lol "translation", yeah I needed that.

Couple of theories about how DRM could be "worse than expected" thrown around on neogaf so far.

Single-player games could claim to require "the power of the cloud" to justify always-online DRM, ala SimCity.

A Live subscription could be required to play all games with cloud features, even if the cloud features are fakes meant to justify always-on DRM.  So a potential sub to play single-player content.

@ bolded

That's my theory, which may be why they are pushing this idea of the cloud being so great for gaming performance.

And I have to LOL at the MS guys in this thread.  "No Sony news obviously means bad news!"

Wow I miss when gaming and E3 was fun and happy times lol. So tried of the Doomsday atmosphere because of the DRM BOX

I remember the first time I played Mario 64. I was like WHAAAAAAT!!! This is the shit : )

Now everything is competitive MP shoot em up killfest. I think that's why I am looking forward to Knack so much
