Forums - Gaming - Psychology survey : You who supports DRM/Xbox One/EA, who are you?

I plan on buying/support the Xbox One mainly because

I'm rich, I don't care 59 33.52%

I don't bother being always on/watched 28 15.91%

I think used games are bad for X reasons 8 4.55%

I think DRM are good for X reasons 12 6.82%

I'm a publisher/dev myse... 9 5.11%

I hate piracy and/or second-hand market. 25 14.20%

I'm a firm Microsoft sup... 35 19.89%

Total:176

What's with some of these options? Pretty vague list of options if you ask me...

"I'm rich, I don't care" - how about I'm intelligent enough to be able to live within my means and include gaming as one of my hobbies.

"I don't bother being always on/watched" - Umm your smartphone is always on and has 2 cameras, GPS tracker and a microphone...200 million were sold last year worldwide. So yeah...there is your answer.

I dont understand why you arent raging angry

I heard Xbox One actually will require a Gigabit a second connection, will only play games one time before they are permanently deleated forcing you to buy another copy, and actually burns your hands if you try to hand a game over to someone else to borrow.

MS has crossed the line and has attacked you personally even. Suppossedly Kinect will actually take pictures of you while you do dirty things an auto upload them to Facebook for everyone to see.

MS is teh evil but luckily Sony has never attempted anything anti consumer and will save us all.

Truth is that this will not effect millions and millions (200m in America) of people and how they already play games. So yes, 10's of millions and millions of people will buy it. Maybe people like the OP should respect those people for those opinions. IF you don't like it then don't buy it but stop acting like it is the end of the world and spamming your hatred for something you "apparently" dont care about.

This.

For the "survey":

Main 3 reasons:

1st: I make enough money not to buy games used and I never did since 2002.
2nd: I think used gaming market and piracy are not good for this industry. 140 studios had to close down this gen for a reason.
3rd: A device that requires an online connection doesn't bother me. I have 3 devices connected to the internet right now and they always are. Sometimes this number goes up to 5. Check the date, it is 2013.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Interesting thread, i hope it doesn't turn into a shit storm too quickly.I am also interested in seeing what supporters of the Xbox One and its policies have to say. I'll make a more educated post once I read some other posts.

Doesn't bother me since I won't be buying the Xbone, I just hope the system will end up like Sim City at launch when major games are release that way I'll get plenty of laugh in the future

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

You should add a see results option because I'm not going to vote for any of those options.

Well, I have always shown a distinct lack of empathy since young age and never really cared much for responsibilities. My overly religious parents even considered whether I was a spawn of Satan at one point after finding me strangling a squirrel in kindergarten.

With that said, I'm not only supportive to, but glad that Microsoft made the Xbox One require an online connection. Still can't believe that they actually allowed poor people from undeveloped areas to use the glorious Xbox 360 platform - even in offline mode. My only wish now is for them to announce an increase to the existing Xbox Live Gold subscription fee this upcoming E3. If that happens, there is no way I will miss an opportunity to buy this beast.

To those "not affected": you don't lend games to your friends? you don't go on holidays with your console? you don't change internet providers/accommodation every now and then, thus not having a connection for a few days?

I don't think "it doesn't affect ME" is a good way to defend this anyway.

Negatives:

1.- No taking your console anywhere with no internet (people on holidays, college students, etc.)
2.- No gaming after MS closes the Bone's servers. You will be able to play your NES games but not the Bone's. It's a long rental.
3.- Basically, no gaming for those who don't have an internet connection (rural areas, developing countries, people who just use 3G, etc.)
4.- No lending games (one time giving only, can't have the game back).
5.- No renting games.
6.- No 2nd hand (most probably, as developers can choose to block it).
7.- Mom & pop stores closing because of this (and maybe large chains too).
8.- No reason to buy disks anymore, which reinforces point 7.
9.- Not DRM related, but still no clarification (even after this list) on whether Kinect can send information about age, gender, etc. to advertisers.

And I'm sure other things I'm forgetting.

Positives: None.

(copy-paste from another thread)

I think those defending this suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome.
