My scenario and millions of others is gone.

Post game on eBay or Craigslist to get maximum return and then rebuy new game or other used game.

Instead at best I can save $5 by going through a "authorized dealer" or nothing as the game remains $60 for ever.

Well my plan is to wait about a year or two before buying an Xbox One. No need to jump ship anytime soon. Games are still coming to the 360 and PS3 and I got a backlog.

After about a year or two, there will be numerous games I want to play and I should be able to get them for around $20-$30.

Prices still have to go down to stimulate sales. Games will not remain $60. Too much competition.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3

663,275
  • Release date: 11/08/2011
  •  $59.99

What did you say about the prices going down after a year?

  • Crysis 2

  • Release date: 3/22/2011
  • $59.99

With this new gen we're in for a ride.

Bear in mind games are still in retail. We'll likely see more price cuts at retail than digital.

Not sure how much this will affect used games prices. But I'm certain we'll be able to get old games at discounted prices just like now.

Furthermore...

GAME
$19.99
You are also cherry picking. Some games are $60, but price ranges around $15-$30 are more common. Even $40 for games less than a year old.

I assume there will be allot of lawsuits with the First-sale doctrine at the helm. :P - And hopefully the consumer wins 'em.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-sale_doctrine

The resale and second hand games market isn't really a concern for me though, I buy all my games brand new and keep them forever anyway, but it is a sad precedent as I know several people who rely on the second hand gaming purchases to save a few bucks because games are so stupidly expensive in Australia.

I believe MS gets around that First - Sale doctrine as Steam does.  XBL is a service and thus it does not go under the First Sale doctrine

well we first need to know whos on the perferd reatil list for all we know ebay and amazon are on there.

Ebay? I doubt it. Amazon yes because they are a retailer themselves but Ebay is just a platform for moms and pop's stores and other small companies.

true ebay may not be one but it all depends on how its worked if they have ebay moniter x1 sales so that every sale a code is sent to the buyer that registers the game with them and also deletes the ability for the seller to use the game.

so i sell the game you,  you buy it, ebay sends you a code that allows you to play the game with out being charged,  once the code is used as soon as the seller connects to the internet to check in they will no longer be able to play that game without buying it

WHAT YOU DON'T NEED TO DO:

3) Be online to watch live TV, Blu-ray or DVD movies: Only games require the once-a-day online connection to work.

And that there is the problem. Why are games different?

Games are the only thing installed on the X1.  Because of this, the disk could be giving to multiple people to install on their system and play the game.  DVD and DVD are played from the drive so you can only give it to one person at a time.
