Connectivity

- Recommended connection of 1.5Mbps
- System is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend
- Games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection
- Play offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console
- Play offline up to one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library
Can’t game offline after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and Blu-ray and DVD movies

We are screwed. Speaking for a lot of countries in Asia. It's like no Xbone for you.

Which countries in Asia are you talking about?

http://www.elist10.com/worlds-top-10-countries-slow-internet-connection/

http://royal.pingdom.com/2013/01/31/asia-extremes-internet-speeds/

Hong-kong, S. Korean and Japan are up there but for the most part, most countires have a slow connection.

Here in the Philippines the normal speed of the internet you will find for the common folks is below 1Mbps. We are practically screwed and thunder storms and heavy rain, good luck with a stable connection when there's one.

Edit

For those who are ok with it. Try living here when sometimes a connection loss will last for 1-2 days or worse for weeks. It 's a common occurence here becauce I.m been there.

Imagine I  have an Xbone and I can't even play games with it becasue I don't have an internet connection.

I stayed in cambodia and philippines for a long time an dthey had a stable broadband wireless internet connection an dthey ar elike one of the poorest countries in the world.Where i am from ,, its considered a developign country and teh connection is decent enough to loig on once every day. i mean whever you switch the machine on to play games you would be registerign it safely for the next 24 hours. it only takes fe wmintures. i do not see the big deal

I think most people dont like it because they think of the games that have used drm and had server crashes but the fail to see that xbox live has only come down once i belive due to to many people logging in.

second i wouldnt be surprised if the limit gets increased to 72 hrs.

Exactly. I am thinking this just to test it out first. By i think 24 hours i smore then enough as no one  games for that long straight. I mean if you travel long distances  by plane , you jsut have to switch it on and verify it so  thats no too hard right? Yea xbox live hav ebene pretty good this gen. Well i am sure ms kwnos what its douing have they 300k serves and unlimited funds so it they need an upgrade they can easily afford to. Like MS and sony have said, its up to the publisher so have feelign neither companies wanted this but had no choice because of the publishers forcing it to Ms.  i would imagine that ocne you have verified it you can switch back to ffline as you woudl b ecovered fro the next 24 hours. Everytime we go on to play games you are already connected ot teh itnerent. How hard is it to jsut verify everytiem you are logged in. That shouldn'rt be the proble,m

The older I get, the more I fear for the future of our society.

You're talking about a segment of the general population that has rationalized and often embraced anti-consumer policies. Why the surprise that they'll be doing it again?

and if your taking your console to a frineds house just sign in right before you leave and youll be good for 24hrs.  also i believe you are able to use your smartphone to connect to the console to the interent to check in.

- Some apps and games may require Kinect functionality to operate, so you’ll need to turn it back on for these experiences

Can someone please clarify:

Does this mean that I can simply keep Kinect unattached as long as I don't play any games that don't necessarily need Kinect?

If so, then one of my main concerns about the Xbox One has just disappeared.

As long as I can keep either the Internet or Kinect constantly unattached, I might accept the system.

From what I understand, you still need to have Kinect physically plugged into the system for the Xbox One to operate, however you can disable the cam and mic sensors on Kinect in the system settings. Therefore, if apps require Kinect you will have to re-enable the Kinect sensors before using the app or game.

I really don't understand why people complain a lot about MS policy on XBOX ONE. Will it really change our gaming life?

I really don't know anyone around me doesn't connect to PSN or XBLIVE when they play games. Now, I think the majority people use WIFI connection. It means when the console is switched on, it will be automatically connected to internet. So why can't you connect to internet only once per 24hrs?

Thats in your life. In your world. I used to work for Direct Tv. Ive been to alot of neighborhoods that didnt have any internet access.  Yes in 2011 when i worked there. Ive been to alot of neighborhoods that had no internet access.. Low income neighborhoods. alot of neighborhoods in the county and country. on the East coast. Yes this changes alot. Those people already cant get a xbox. But who am i.. just a guy who wishes console gaming was kept simple i shouldnt have to worry about extra nonsense

Sadly, not everyone see it that way. And it's just not about that, some people have beliefs. Some don't use internet at all because of privacy issues. A lot of people use it but don't use things like FB or twitter because of privacy. In fact, I have known of a few people that will NEVER use the internet because once your information is there, you can never delete it completely. You can try, but something will always be there. A former college proffessor shared this with us to let us know the reason we can't e-mail her IIRC.

That's what I know from the few people I know in the U.S. and in Mexico. Now, how many others think like that? I'm sure my former proffesor and friends I know are not alone.

In my case, altough I have good connection, I play offline games(reason my profile cards are very old, not updated) because I mostly like single player games with great story and stuff like that. Sometimes I play split-screen with friends and family. That's not going to be possible anymore if I get an X1 which if continues that way, obviously I'm not interested.

Sorry for bad English.
