Sharing with 10 family members.. hell yes. I already know 2 of my brothers are getting this at/near launch. Probably a 3rd one too. I am sure the rest I can fill up with friends.

So used games.. they're basically taking the exact same stance as Sony. It's entirely up to the publishers in terms of whether or not they're allowed, and whether or not there is a fee associated with trading them in (which I would assume is paid for by the "approved retailer", which means less trade in value).

Depending on how much value is lost, this sounds perfectly fine to me.

I can't believe people are trying to justify this crap.Guess when you love a company, you love a company. If Sony pulls this shit,I'll buy a wiiu(I'll still buy one anyway)but I will only own one next gen.

Look, buddy. I can share my 360 games with "friends" and "family members" as long as I want, as much as I want. I don't have "limit caps" for sharing my games. Do you understand where I'm going?

You know what boddy... I think youre not seeing the picture.

If you can make designated people your "family members", you and your group of "family members" can buy 1 game and enjoy it...together, at once.

You can only share your 360 game with family members 1 at a time...catch my drift amigo?

yep, that's what i really want to know, if you can even make friends to "family members", this is better as everything people had in the past. 10 friends buying one destiny to play on 10 consoles together would be really sick. but i doubt that this works like that. but if, people should really think about the possibilities...

Such bullshit there's a mandatory connection and verification for offline games after 24 hours. The sheer principle of it is disgusting.

What a shitty industry.First time I really have the desire to see it crash and burn, and I hate to be saying this right now, but I can't feel any other way.

Quick question to those who are reading this and actually want to discuss and not just bitch and moan...

What defines a family member? Did Microsoft specify what they define a family member and what is a friend?

I ask because you can apparently share the game once with a "friend" but 10 times with "family members".

"You’ll be able to give your games to friends. However, you can only give them to people who have been on your Xbox LIVE friends list for at least 30 days, and the game can only be given once."

You cannont share your games with a friend. The game can be given to a friend once. Meaning, he will own the game and you can no longer play it and he cannot give it to anyone else.

As for the family member issuse. We don't know yet, but over at gaf people were saying only 2 family members at a time can play the game. Not all 10.

Hope this helps .

I think the once is meant to be that if you give ur game to a friend you can only give it away once not to every friend. So I can give you the game I can't give it anyone now you can give it back or to some one else

No you are wrong. This is a carefully written article. If that is the case they would have said you can share your game once with a friend and not "give" and followed by "the game can only be given once". Also the line is found under Trading and Selling section. The first paragraph covers trade-ins and this covers selling or "giving'

quote someone of those people and then try to explain why something he said isn't logical at least for this person.

as example if you mean me, explain to me how the xbox one isn't better for me as what we have right now?

my points are:

1. i don't rent games

2. i only sell my used games together with the console

3. i'm always online except for few seconds from time to time

4. we will buy a few xbox consoles in my family and all of them can play all the bought games even hundreds of kilometers away from each other.

how is that not better for me as nowadays?

you can give two of your brothers the same game on 360 and still play it at your home when both have one half of the disc?

We can all play Geometric Wars at the same time and being offline!

I don't want to "own" games so I could shove them up my ass and then show my friends how far it can go. I want to "own" games to play games to be entertained...

What part of "owning" and "playing" for the sake of entertainment is not possible with this online DRM model? Absolutely none.

You guys may argue that Microsoft may stop supporing the console down the line and cut off service to playing these games. If they decide to do that (which I find quite doubtful for at least 20 years after console launch) there is absolutely no reason why they won't just disable DRM for the console at that point and let you play without the online verification. DRM is just software that can be adjusted any time...

Xbox One also fully supports external storage and should give you the opportunity to back up all of your games, in case a game is pulled off Xbox Live for one reason or another.

While I agree that there are people out there that this console is absolutely not geared for, it works for me.  I understand if people with lack of internet availabilty complain...

But what I see around here is a lot of people that can easily enjoy this console and make it work, but who are are just looking to add extra meaning to their life by making a completely meaningless stand for a completely BS cause. Rights for gamers!  I have internet and can buy games and now can share them with family and friends, but yeah fight the power... Or just usual people bashing Microsoft for everything they can. Not sure where you belong...both?

Where does it say "share with family and friends {edit, I meant playing same game separately at same time}".

You can login to your own device and people on that device can also play it. ( no changes to basic disc or digital rights now)

You can login to a friends xbone and play it at their house. ( no changes to takign disc to their house now, but adds new feature to digital ownership)

But you cannot give them your live account and let them play it while you play it at home. (no changes to now)

So, you're gaining nothing.  But you're losing ownership and real value in used markets if that option will even be available to per the publisher.

Basically, there is far more risk and cost and no new value.

Again, I'm not talking about losing power or internet etc, I could care less about that. While I don't think its great for the many millions of gamers without great internet, that's not my problem. That is just bad business, not a dramatic change in ownership rights.

No thanks.

Still confirms that you won't have actual ownership over your disc based games. It's all about permissions from MS to be able to do anything with your games. A lot of overcomplicated restrictions, 'can enable' and 'may's' and no guarantees.

As we move into this new generation of games and entertainment, from time to time, Microsoft may change its policies, terms, products and services to reflect modifications and improvements to our services, feedback from customers and our business partners or changes in our business priorities and business models or for other reasons.  We may also cease to offer certain services or products for similar reasons.

It also says no where that you only need to re-verify the disc to keep playing off-line.
With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection

Nothing whether you can unplug the Kinect if you don't want it looking or listening, or lugging it along to a different location.

It's all unnecesarilly complicated with only promises that you can sort of do the things you can do now with your disc based games. They should have offered the choice, buy digital with all these 'benefits' or buy discs the old way.
No ownership, no sale.

I'll be waiting for the slim version to see if it this will result in Steam like sales. I'm not paying more then $10-$15 dollars for games I don't get to own. $60 for an installation disc with online drm, no thanks.

Thanks. Yeah that makes sense.

If you can designate which consoles are "family members", this Xbox One setup is golden. Hope its not some BS like it has to be the same name on the account or the same billing address on the credit card.
