Forums - Sony - Why are people upset that polygon gave that last of us a 7

Dude, for the love of god, punctuation. It takes just a few seconds to add some comas and periods.

Nitpicking aside, people take reviews too literal. Right now, there is a general consensus that the TLoU is a masterpiece of a game, which metacritic reflects just that. I do wonder how a game like Remember me got an 8 but TLoU got a 7 or 7.5, whichever it was. You can clearly tell which one is the better, more polished game, personal preferences aside.

Still, it's one freaking point.

Gamespot Skyward Sword 7.5 reminds me of that.

No. That was a completely (completely!) different situation. Can't even be compared...

It's more similar to when Twilight Princess was given a 8.8. or when Mark McDonald (EGM) got death threats for giving Wind Waker a 9.5(!).

Were the death threats for giving Wind Waker a 9.5 for the score being too high (hopefully this) or too low (hopefully not this)?

If was for it being too low. The other two EGM reviewers gave it 10s. I'm serious too. I still have the copy of the magazine somewhere. They blacked out his face on the staff page in joking efforts to quell Zelda's fan rage at giving Wind Waker a 9.5.

I agree with the review from playing the demo. The finicky aiming is incredibly frustrating.
With that said, the game is worth at least an 8.5. 7.5 seems unjust for the quality the game presents. I think the reviewer is definitly trying to gain notoriety for him and the site, and that i cant excuse.

Not sure if it's been said before, but the reviewer on Polygon isn't the one who gives the final score. That's a joint decision by a few people based on what was written. It's a silly system, but it's a score! Who cares?!?!

That's an awful way, those people didn't even play the game yet they give it a score because oh it seems violent or something. No wonder it is low because of that.

... people don't know the meaning of the word opinion...

There's your answer, nothing more needs to be said, also i think it was a 7.5 and that's not a bad score the problem here is also the people: <9 = TRASH - this means that for them is like if the reviewer is calling the game trash, like if he's saying that it's worthless they don't even care for the review itself.

But it's not. An official review isn't supposed to just be an opinion. It's a objective review on the qualities of a product or service.

No, it's a combination of both, i have to trash Call of Duty for having a boring campaign and repetitive scenarios (opinion) but i have to praise it for it's smooth controls and good online/mp (gamefact), i have to praise skyrim for it's freedom and epic feeling added to the fantasy quest (opinion) but i have to trash it because of it's horrible combat system and character progresion (gamefact) -- On these days and industry (specially games and movies) reviews are mostly -all- opinion.
