Forums - Gaming - This type of bad news is far worse for MS than Nintendo.

Well someone has sense PS4 wins obviously!

We don't know for sure until E3. MS must dominate everyone in quality exclusives to save face. Literally. If MS has a great selection of games they will for the most part be excused as they always have been for some reason or the other for the past two generations.

i'll tell you what, i'm not going to be too happy with the companies that take MS's FUD money either..

Yup :/ I can see EA, Capcom and Activision jumping in on this.

I guess this is what they meant by "Killing Sony at E3."

Third party is the only way they've ever been able to stand a chance against Sony. They aren't stupid enough to face Sonys studios head to head.

Now, I could be wrong but, are Microsoft trying to make those games seem excludcives? If so then, those must be the 20 exudcives games

they were talking about? Come on Microsoft, stop throwing money at the wrong things. it's not like you're actually scared of Sony, right?

Basically if true it's a PR move much like timed exclusives or when they announced FFXIII for 360, from what I gather it makes it look like they have more or equal to offer gamers then Sony and if the GPU problems are true the won't be direct comparisons for some multiplatform titles that show up.

...I guess they'd better wow us at E3 then. You gotta do what you gotta to make your product not look inferior to the other.

EA for sure. at first I was able to justify their mistreatment of wiiU due to wiiU's low sales but as it becomes increasingly obvious what their real motivation is i don't think i can buy their software anymore.   luckily (?) EA hasn't announced a single next gen game i deem worth playing so it is an easy protest.  activision not so much -- destiny looks really really good.   well destiny is guarenteed to be at E3 for sony so maybe their is hope they won't take bribes.

Ok I posted about this in Chunk's other thread but have now read further into the GAF thread and omg if the following is true it can't be a good sign as it indicates they've bungled or rushed their console design and have been caught off guard.

Thread where it started

"Two of our most trusted neoGAF insiders have said that Microsoft is reacting hard to what has went down, and so they're going to try to dismantle PS4's image as a "for gamers" console by paying publishers and devs to not show their multiplatform titles during E3 on a PS4. In other words, even if the multiplatform version is coming out for the PS4, they won't be able to show them at E3, thus contributing to the perception that somehow Sony is getting significantly less support for PS4 than Microsoft is "for gamers."

Of course, I'm sure multiplatform games will slip through - they can't possibly pay everyone - but it's extremely telling how they're choosing to spend their money. Rather than do the thing everyone wants, which is end the anti-consumer nonsense, they'll spend their time trying to deceive everyone instead. That should say it all about Microsoft since this year started"

Absolutely disgusted by this.. but not at all surprised, given their recent endevours. In all my years of gaming, I've never once wanted a console to bomb as much as this One.

It's a very common business strategy, it happens everyday for all types of companies. Not that I endorse this mind you, but it doesn't surprise me at all. I actually find it kind of weird that MS, Sony and Ninty arean't insulting each other on ads like in the 90's, is there a law for that in the U.S? I know there's a law in country that makes it illegal to one company to make fun or named a competitor on a public ad.

Well, if MS invested more into the console and their own development teams, they wouldn't have resort to such shady practices. But nope, instead MS (do what they do best) flash their wad to others in a bid to win by using anti-competitive behaviour.. when they could have used the money on games or whatever. Since it is a damn games console after all.

Anti-competitive practices was where you hit the nail on the head. Its the reason they had issues with the OS after Apple started picking up steam. They want to be the only dog in town in front of the eyes of the ignorant, but what companies like Valve, Google, Samsung and Apple and Sony have been preaching is that there couldnt be anything further from the truth. Anyway, MS was smart to cloak their weak first party which almost every gaming website has admitted but buffering it with third party exclusives and helping them fund their games in return.
