Forums - Gaming - This type of bad news is far worse for MS than Nintendo.

So Wii U had big hype... was revealed and went to "huh", then showcased at E3 and stayed at "what.. ok"... then gained some hype. Then released and went YAAAAaaaa................. Now its at a daily bad news stint with the occasionally bright star with future games and rumors.

XB1 had huge hype.... most powerful eva... omg will be great... to well it will be close to PS4 and still fantastic can't wait.. to reveal where it went to a roar of pissed off peeps about DRM to bad news followed only by bad news as now we hear about a potentially impending RROD all over again.

You may say how is this different or how is it worse for MS?

Because many people buy Nintendo hardware primarily for Nintendo software with the other software and features seen as a potential bonus or with knowledge that they will likely buy second hardware at some point anyways if Nintendo doesn't get supported. So, this negative news its getting is more of a meh opinion so long as price is right or specific Nintendo title is launched.

XB1 doesn't have that luxury. People buy a MSony product for the combination of first and in most cases the third party software. Well MSony share the 3rd party stuff equally and MS won't have that developer head start this time which help X360 maintian noticeably better software for many years. Combine that with the now confirmed fact that MS is having hardware troubles again and I think all those folks who focus on 3rd parties... will go PS4.

Nintendo simply doesn't have that issue as those folks likely were never considering WiiU would cater to that need.

So yes, Nintendo has serious issues it needs to rectify this E3. Firm dates for A LOT OF GAMES including a strong showing of 3rd party as well as a price cut to really put the focus on cost difference in next-gen hardware. But MS has a bigger hill to climb out of this repetitive bad news. Their hill is a lot muddier and if they don't handle it at this E3, PS4 will clearly win between those two this holiday.

A lot of props has to be given to the guy (Cerny?) in charge of PS4. Its been all good news for a long time now.

EDIT: MS bad news train defined well by a gaffer...

ps4 will probably win but for another reason. like you see on the internet, sony has many more "extreme" fans as microsoft and not only since the last weeks and those internet guys are the people who buy a console at release. if both would release exactly the same system and the same games, sony would sell more the first holiday.

superchunk, here's your Nintendo gamer badge. You can take it back.

Thank you.

Microsoft hasn't handled pre-launch as well as Sony, that's true, which has been a surprise for me, but I'm not sure how important that will end up being. In my opinion, Microsoft has more of the "casual-core" gamer, a demographic that spends a lot of time gaming in a single genre, like sports or FPS, and thus doesn't really follow gaming news as a whole. I think most of this group will be like, "a new Xbox? Cool," and drop their money down without ever knowing that Microsoft flubbed up their PR.

That being said, however, they're not exactly inspiring consumer confidence at the moment, and might end up losing some of the gamers who do follow gaming news. Some people think that the XO will see wide adoption by the general public because of its television features, though I'm not one of them. If they don't, and they do end up dropping some of their fanbase, then the XO might see marketshare that's down from the 360.

We will see at E3, I will be so glad when we're done with al this negativity

Did Microsoft run over your dog with a car or something? I mean, to justify the amount of hate you give them on a daily basis on these forums they would have to do something really bad to you...

Or...Microsoft just royally fucked up this time? It's not as if VGChartz is the only place where the console is torn apart. Haters gonna hate, but if you receive universal criticism something DID go wrong...

lol daily basis? wtf are you talking about. I've been the biggest proponent of their entertianment / non-gaming focus since I knew it was coming last year.

I even wrote a recent thread saying how much Kinect has improved.

You must be mistaking me for someone else.

Its fine if microsoft fucks up and we call them out on it. Fuck, I'll do it myself it they do... But same exact people just constantly bashing the same exact things, over and over...all based on rumors, speculations and pixie dust.

Just give it up.
