So Wii U had big hype... was revealed and went to "huh", then showcased at E3 and stayed at "what.. ok"... then gained some hype. Then released and went YAAAAaaaa................. Now its at a daily bad news stint with the occasionally bright star with future games and rumors.

XB1 had huge hype.... most powerful eva... omg will be great... to well it will be close to PS4 and still fantastic can't wait.. to reveal where it went to a roar of pissed off peeps about DRM to bad news followed only by bad news as now we hear about a potentially impending RROD all over again.

You may say how is this different or how is it worse for MS?

Because many people buy Nintendo hardware primarily for Nintendo software with the other software and features seen as a potential bonus or with knowledge that they will likely buy second hardware at some point anyways if Nintendo doesn't get supported. So, this negative news its getting is more of a meh opinion so long as price is right or specific Nintendo title is launched.

XB1 doesn't have that luxury. People buy a MSony product for the combination of first and in most cases the third party software. Well MSony share the 3rd party stuff equally and MS won't have that developer head start this time which help X360 maintian noticeably better software for many years. Combine that with the now confirmed fact that MS is having hardware troubles again and I think all those folks who focus on 3rd parties... will go PS4.

Nintendo simply doesn't have that issue as those folks likely were never considering WiiU would cater to that need.

So yes, Nintendo has serious issues it needs to rectify this E3. Firm dates for A LOT OF GAMES including a strong showing of 3rd party as well as a price cut to really put the focus on cost difference in next-gen hardware. But MS has a bigger hill to climb out of this repetitive bad news. Their hill is a lot muddier and if they don't handle it at this E3, PS4 will clearly win between those two this holiday.

A lot of props has to be given to the guy (Cerny?) in charge of PS4. Its been all good news for a long time now.

EDIT: MS bad news train defined well by a gaffer...
