After those losses with Hitman, Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Rider sales, it´s not that surprising. They will have to seek for safer paths from now on.

Is this a tiny indication of what the game industry is going to be on the next ten years? Less big budget games, more cheaper games designed for tablets/smartphones/PC, more digital sales, less physical copies.....

Safer paths? Each of those games sold more than a mil each. If they couldnt make money on that, then SE is doing something wrong. Plain and simple

those games (EIDOS) broke even, they didn't make near the money square enix wanted/expected, there's an article about it where the new CEO states this. I'm too lazy to find this.

I understand that and thats my point, in the hands of another possibly better publisher those games would have made money. TR sells damn near 3mil in the first month and they didnt make money? There is no way it should have cost them that much to make. No way, thats just incompetence

We have no idea if the games broke even. It's not hard to believe that they should, but the company is focused on ROI, not just breaking even. Square wants more than that and there's nothing wrong with that.

The numbers that kept getting reported as sold were just expectations, not what they actually sold.
