Forums - Sales - Japan sales: M-Create & Famitsu & Dengeki - week 22 (May 27 - June 2 )

japan sales are low..

Last year total combined hardware sales = 144.000

this year = 80.000 o_o

Not to mention the Wii U wasn't even out at this point and the Vita was still full price.

The lack of fucks given is palpable. Even the 3DS dropped sharply from last week, and is down something like 60% from this time last year. I have a feeling the PS4 is in for a bumpy ride over there.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

3DS had a nice bundle last year. DQM 3DS?

But yeah I  agree, Vita and WiiU lacklustre sales is really something.

Well, at least Wii-U seems to have found a plateau now. It was looking dangerously like it could dip below 5k in a few more weeks. If it stays at this level, well... doesn't sound like much, but at least it's better than continually plummeting, at least until the software comes.

38k on Media Create for 3DS is pretty shocking for the leading console, too. And I'm not sure Vita has stabilised above 10k really. It's weird, all those weeks we had "JUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK" posts about the Vita and now I'm the one saying it. But yeah, with no new software until Neptunia in 3 weeks, I can see it going below 10k again.

Software wise, we're seeing all the games with legs hang around. Soul Sacrifice isn't there like I had hoped it would be, but never mind.

Zillions of Enemy X really seemed to underperform. I thought Nippon Ichi restructured a while back to try and avoid making low-selling games like this. Maybe it's time to port Disgaea 4 to Vita. And get the whip cracking on Witch & Hundred Knights.

Oh, and yeah, I agree.  I'm not too sure we'll ever see a highly successful home console in Japan again, and I think PS4 is going to struggle out of the gate.

WiiU, wow, it's up.

Tomodachi crossed the million mark, and with a 1% drop from last week it's probably going to cross that 2m barrier rather soon. Luigi, Animal Crossing and all the other 3DS titles except SMT are up! Dat 3DS SW.

Run for Money will undoubtedly cross 500k, thats surpassing Namco Bandai's expectation in a 150%

The budget version of MH3G will sell more than the budget version of MH3P, that's impressive.

SMT IV dropped hard, expected but, that was a huge drop. Still, they are probably sending a second shipment, not bad at all.

@kresnik 38k is for Famitsu, MC tracked 42k for 3DS.

There isn't a lot of exciting software being released. Exciting announcements from e3 could spur the market. Games, price cuts could be coming...

3DS needs a revision for the summer to help spur sales + momentum as their software release is rather weak going forward, except for MH4.

umm... pokemon? Not trying state the obvious but i think nintendo are banking on pokemon to carry them through until a new revision. The first pokemon on any system is a sales demon for the system itself.

Plus we got the xl last year, i don't think nintendo would make hardware revisions every year, even though i think they should consider it with the way tech is today.

what a huge gap between Famitsu and Media Create console sales for the 3ds: more than 4.000.
There´s something really really wrong with their tracking....
And the 3Ds has another million seller: Tomodachi Collection. I wonder if this weird game will ever come to the West.

I think a revision is in the works....but they don't want to blow it too early.

They know the XL was rushed because of low sales, hell they even admitted it. This is not the Nintendo we know.

They've had ASTONISHING revisions in the last 2 handheld cycles. GBA to GBA SP, DS to DS lite. Is this all they got? Oh hell no it ain't. They're working on it people. a 3DS Lite with 6h+ battery life and better screens, build quality.

BELIEVE.

Summer release is barren. Pokemon is October - Winter sched. Nintendo would be wise to release a new 3DS model in the Summer, near the release of MH4. 3DS YTD is below last year's - not good if Iwata wants to achieve its 18 million 3DS by end of Fiscal-Year - March.
