no its not a better sign than amazon, there is no way asda shift more gameing stock than amazon, yeah Wal mart bought asda, but asda is certainly not to be compared with walmart, its tiny in comparison to american wal marts, tiny in comparison to UK Tescos. 

But yes it is a good sign for xbox 1, but was surely heavily expected for a country thats xbox 360 centric, but its far to early to tell, the mass market is yet to learn price and about DRM issues, and yes that goes for both consoles.

I would have to ask how many consoles people would expect to pre-order from Asda, its not the normal place to order this type of thing, well certainly it wouldn't have been 6-7 years ago, so beating those historic figures shouldn't be that hard i would guess.

Of course we have had the wii-u recently, so that is a good sign for the Xbox that it is beating the wii-u which had a very good first few weeks. But we could still only be talking about a few hundred console pre-orders like the Blockbuster debacle.

Regardless of the numbers it is still getting more pre-orders than the PS4 at these two companies, so that is a positive (though we don't know the gap).

Even though there has been huge derision of the Xbox (its been talked about quite a lot if its replicated like where i work in other places of work), for it to be getting good news story just shows that the "internet" doesn't necessarily translate to the general public. But its too early to tell really. 

Going to be an interesting year I feel.

The UK is a very shaky video game market. You can't really trust it. Something that totally bombs here could sell like hot cakes somewhere else. We'll just have to wait and see when the console comes out. I'm not too excited about it I'll just be honest. Maybe you guys can convince me otherwise.

I didn't say otherwise. I meant that this is the second retailer out of the UK to say this. It's a good sign.

Good for xbox one but I don't recall Asda doing pre-orders for any PS or xbox before so I wonder what they are using as a yardstick for these "records".

I just wish hard figures could be produced to compliment these facts. Why are figures never presented? Without them spin can turn a handful of orders into a huge record.

I expect US pre-orders to be enormous. More prove to MS that they should stick to their guns with DRM. They should even increase the live subscription fee.
