I agree. It wasn't a bad game per se, it was just too different and therefore dissapointed many of the series' fans. |

This seems to be an exteme case where Miyamoto demands for the genre to be changed. Considering how Intelligent Systems is an extremely experienced RPG developer... yeah, I don't know what he was thinking. |
People need to stop worshiping the guy. He's human, just like the rest of us. Somebody should have stood up to him or something.
Yeah, Rol had a point. I still remember the thread about it. People really do just want the same gameplay, just more of it in a different setting.
NintendoPie, I can admit that when taken by itself, Paper Mario: Sticker Star isn't a bad game. It's actually quite well done...great production values, good music, a unique gameplay hook that "does" work. It's just that it's not the game that fans of the first two Paper Mario games wanted. After Super Paper Mario shook up the formula drastically and got rid of turn-based battles, when they announced that Sticker Star WOULD have turn based battles, and showed off early screenshots back in 2010 at E3 with Paper Mario running around with partners, a lot of us got very excited thinking it would continue the excellence of the first two Paper Mario games. I should've known that when the game disappeared for 2 full years (not really reappearing until E3 2012), something was up. Again, though, I enjoyed the game for what it was..but it left a bad taste of disappointment in my mouth because it wasn't what I expected/wanted from this particular franchise.
Upcoming Games To Get
Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)
Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)
I wonder if we'll ever get a Paper Mario on console again.
Been noticing that a lot of Nintendo franchises seems to be going to handhelds nowadays. Maybe the dev costs are too high now to make a full blown console game for some of the lesser franchises like Paper Mario? (Wish it weren't)
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

That would make Rol way too old to even know what the internet is.
