Apparently there is enough difference to net DKCR six more points than Yoshi's Island DS on Metacritic.

That's meant to be an argument in your favour?

Since my position is that Artoon would not do a better job (and since you seem to not have any problems with using Metacritic in order to make points), then yes.

If it was a global truth that putting Retro on any project would get a publisher six points more than Artoon, I think we'd see every game being given to the Artoons of this world.

I have not played anything from ND except for Crash, so I can't make a judgement.

One thing I do want to mention is that I wish would Nintendo give the importance Sony gives ND to Retro. DKCR is one of the best games of all time IMO.

EDIT: Yoshi's Island DS was... how to put it nicely? Garbage. Awfully designed. Abysmal. Unplayable. Uninspired. Made my ears bleed. One of the worst games Nintendo has ever published. Had Artoon made DKCR, it wouldn't have been 1/100th as good.

Both amazing publishers, but the calibre of Naughty dog keeps getting better and as they move along. I am however looking forward to seeing what Retro has to show.

Talk to me on Jun 14th, I don't think I have ever a developer make two IPs that can define a generation, but Naughty Dog is on the verge. Let's hope it's a great game.

I don't know about Retro, but Naughty Dog is even more important to World Wide Studios (and Sony) than most people think. ICE Team created a lot of the tools and code used by first- and third-party developers. They've been essential in helping get games running on the PS3 and I can't help but think they'll be just as important with the PS4.

Quoting for exposure.

Regardless of your feelings on the Uncharted franchise, it's hard to deny Naughty Dog's influence on the PS3.  As Pokoko says, ICE Team helped both first & third party developers get the most out of the console.  I read somewhere that ND also provided an early debugger, or something like that, for PS3 when everyone was struggling to work on it.  I'll have to dig around to find the article, though.

Also OT, just my personal opinion but over three generations I've been more impressed with Naughty Dog, due to them building up something special from scratch.  They made Crash into a critically-acclaimed, commercial successful trilogy and have done the same with three Uncharted games.  Jak, their least acclaimed and least successful trilogy happens to be my favourite of their works.  And that's not counting that they managed to make a two racing games and are on the verge of releasing a brand new TPS.

DKCR was an awesome game, especially in co-op, but I think Retro had a good base to work with in the first place.  What they did with bringing Metroid into first person was more impressive, but aside from that we haven't seen much from them.

Either way, two very good studios.

Either that or Metacritic is not an ideal source of determining a game's quality. I would prefer to go by personal experience, which leads me to say that Yoshi's Island DS or anything Artoon has ever did is nothing close to the quality of DKCR. But then we'd be getting into an even more subjective area, where I can point out several levels in DKCR I thought were awesome, then you can tell me that they aren't, then we may run out of decent gameplay-centric areas to take this discussion.

i love Retro, but they've done nothing compared to Rare. i really hope they start making their own ips

They're both amazing developers.

Uncharted is my favorite new IP of the 7th generation, and in my opinion DKCR shits all over each and every NSMB game.

Man, do we really need to argue about which is better here? Just take a step back, sit down on your comfy chair, sofa, floor or whatever it is you people sit on and....relaaaaax, baby. Let all the lights sink in, the blue stuff in the background, the trippy green, and the magical white. It feels good, man.

WOW this edit button really changes things up, man. I just wanted to add that Naughty Dog, with their, uh, visually pleasing games and relaxed characters are really a game changer, man. I haven't seen this, uh...uh, Retro thing, but if what you guys are saying isn't just the effects of my relax medicine, then it's fuckin' A, man.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you might be high right now. :-p  Is that what your relaxing medicine is?

Anyway, Naughty Dog is my favorite developer right now.  And I haven't played but maybe one game from Retro and I never play nintendo very much and I look to change that now that I have a wii u.

Two of the best developers on the planet.
