Retro and Tokyo EAD are as good as any studio Sony has, and Monolith is better than most of them too.

Nintendo is the only one of the three that could carry their console by themselves.
If Sony were to try to survive without 3rd parties like Nintendo they'd be screwed.

That's not really working for the WiiU at the moment.. And it didn't work for the GameCube or N64.

How many of their big first party games have Nintendo released on WiiU besides NSMBU? Yeah, I thought so...
Also look at top software sales of N64 and GC then tell me where those consoles would have ended up without Nintendo's first party IPs behind them.
So yeah, nothing you said went against what I said.

Actually, it did work for the Gamecube and the N64. Both survived their generation and made money with little third party support.

Wrong. That was thanks to the handhelds. Nintendo has always had a way of enticing kids to get their parents to buy them a Nintendo handheld.

Not wrong. Gamecube and N64 were self-sustaining, because people bought them to play Nintendo's 1st party franchises.

Yeah.... right. Also, notice how the GC didn't have a DVD-player which was expensive when the previous gen started? Ah, Nintendo, always trying to sell each piece of hardware at a profit at the expense of a wanted feature.

GameCube and N64 were both profitable systems. N64 especially.

I'm sure that selling cheap hardware for a profit helped.
