I agree with this for the most part but I think simply saying they make sequels is wrong, more like they bring back dead franchises (which technically are sequels but u know what I mean).

It was only a matter of time before metroid was coming back and they were the team to make it. Nintendo is smart, they dont believe new IP's can have as much impact as a stable name. I like when companies take risk, but Nintendo takes risk with gameplay so that counts for something. More than I could say for another platform company.

Retro has made great games but not enough to be stated in the same sentence as Naughty Dog who kept making new IP's which turned into hits. Unlike Rare, Naughty Dog is an example of Sonys vision for games. Retro is Nintendos sequel factory and good games or not thats all they'll be to me. Great yes, but great for a sequel company.

Sequel, new IP, all that matters in terms of making a dev great is that their games are great. Retro's are. Prime 1 & 3 and DKCR can stand up to anything ND has ever made.

Nintendo Iis my favorite game company but I wish they would make more new ips instead of sticking a familiar face in them.

Games like Star Fox Adventures and Kirby Epic Yarn were both originally planned as new ips but instead dthey decided to add existing characters because they would sell better that way. Im sure they have done this wiyh other games as well.

Sure...if you believe Retro has set more standards for themselves than Naughty Dog I leave you to that. Somwhere, someone will believe that as well.

You hit the nail on the head. That Star Fox game was the beginning of some major issues between the two companies as well as the conker issue, but yeah. Epic Yarn could've been another IP. Nintendo needs something that represents each generation. They also need to realize that a lot of their gamers they brought into gaming are growing up and maybe some of those new IP's could be for them as well as the games to gather kids like Mario, Kirby, Super Smash, Mario Kart and more.

Thats pretty much the same way of saying I respect your opinion. Theres no equality to me between a company that makes new hits and a company that is a sequel factory. Sorry. I will enjoy them as the next guy but I have standards but in my book the team that takes the most risk and succeeds time and time again is the more valuable company. We agree to disagree plain and simple.

I don't take issue with your opinion. Just saying, there's no need to be snarky. ("Sure...if you believe Retro has set more standards for themselves than Naughty Dog I leave you to that. Somwhere, someone will believe that as well.")

Both great teams. I'd say ND is definetly the most prolific developer, they have been able to deliver a great game about once every 2 years since 1996. On they other hand, imo, none of their games has ever reached the quality heights of Retro's games like Metroid Prime (my favourite single player first person game of all time) and DKCR (my favourite 2D platform since the SNES/Genesis generation).
As for ND I think Jak & Daxter, Jak II and Crash Team Racing are the best games they have ever made. They have kind of lost me with Uncharted but still TLOU looks very promising.

I get what ur saying but Metroid Prime was a pretty big risk, Iit was a revival of a series that hadnt released in 8 years and went from 2D side scroller to 3D FPS. If it failed it very possibly would have killed Metroid for good and Nintendo might not have let Retro work on a big game again.
