Forums - Gaming - Something tells me MS is going to buy up key third party titles exclusivity for next gen

Well what are key third Party titles. Mirrors Edge 2? I dont think so. Key third Party titles are Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, GTAs. That are the key titles that would move a huge amount of Systems.

Between look what i have found

Dragon Age 3 is most likely not an exclusive. And even if it is i dont think that it would be a key title.

Gears of War was a new IP...one of those games could be a new IP from a third party.

I'd be fine with MS securing some western exclusives and Sony securing some eastern exclusives.

Its bad for gamers all around if they continue to go on a rampant spending frenzy. Less money for third parties but they are covering the losses so oh well. If MS does it Sony needs to cover themselves because I know they will with first and second party.

Well wouldnt that be the case for every other game Company?Make new IPS and some of them become big whyle others dont become big.

I dont say that games like Mirrors Egde wouldt be great and the reason for some guys to purchase the console but sales wise ( if we take Mirros Edge for an example) it isnt an System mover or a game that will have much influnce in the "console war". With that beeing said there will always be the opputurnity that it will become much bigger in the future and will be a big System mover in the future. But that can be said for every other new IP or game.

why doesn't Microsoft just buy COD and BF and be done with this console war?!

Simply over 10 M copys sold for each Call of Duty game on PS3. Need more reason.

Activision would make them pay a a couple billion dollars for that one game and you know it. Thats Activisions current bread and butter and they wont let it go until it loses steam.

When the majority of your first party studios are struggling to produce good games with the exception of Turn 10, 343 and their new studios, eventually your going to have to find talent through 2nd and 3rd parties.
If Microsoft can get some well known franchises to be exclusive to Xbox such as sports games than Sony may have some issues countering that. Especially if MS can get some of EA's popular franchises to be exclusives on it's console, it won't bode Well for Sony.

Definitely, yes. Very fine.

I think it's a very real possibility. A few online retailers have listed Mirrors Edge 2 and Dragon Age 3 (both EA published games) for the X1 but not for the PS4.

There's no way DA3 is Xbone exclusive, it will be on PC guaranteed. MS might buy console exclusivity and EA might accept it since the DA series had disappointing sales on PS3. I'll be a tad miffed if it avoids PS4, but I'll play it on PC if it does.

Mirror's Edge isn't a big enough IP to really be any concern in terms of moneyhatted exclusivity.

I think PC would get nixed before the PS4 version would. They would pull what happened with Alan Wake and get timed exclusivity to consoles if you're right though and then it comes to PC like a year later. You're right about Mirrors Edge though.
