I just played through Portal 2 again and just remembered how hilarious that game is. The game also reminded me how humorless most games are. I don't know if videogame developers are poor at making jokes or if they think videos are supposed to be serious and stale. Whatever the case is, successful humor in videogames is very rare, or I have been playing the wrong games. That's why I thouht it would be cool to celebrate the rare instances of successful humor in video games.

Grand Theft Auto has some pretty funny moments too, particularly when it makes satire of popular themes in American culture. I personally find some of the radio stations in GTA: IV to be the funniest element in the entire series Here is an example video about the show "Just or unJust" on one of the radio stations. Funny Stuff.



Ratchet & Clank has some funny stuff too. What about you? What games have been the funniest to you? It's all subjective of course, so don't be shy if you have bizarre (or even disturbing) tastes.

The Metal Gear Solid games have that kojima humor.

Portal 2 was hilarious.  Love that game.

Borderlands 2 also had some witty writing.  ClapTrap is really funny, obviously, but Handsome Jack was brilliant.

Portal 2 is fantastic. The writing in that game is just... Well... Fantastic. Its gaming at its finest.

Id have to agree with okr here too. The Monkey Island games are just brilliant.

To add my own opinion to the thread - I was also a fan of the first 2 Discworld games, they were quite funny if youre into the whole Discworld thing. Rincewind in the games is also voiced by Eric Idle which is a huge advantage it has over the majority of other games.
