I find that Halo 4 matches any PS3 exclusive, Gears of Wars 3 is pretty close also. No doubt that Sony invested a lot more into engines than MS, though.

The Last of Us is shaping veeeeery beautiful, I have to say. Gears of War 3 has its upside-downs, it looks pretty beautiful in closed areas, but it's average in others. I do think it is the best 360 game, graphical-wise speaking.

Yes, they do but those are also on PS3. How does that prove that Microsoft chose to go with Unreal 3 to power its games?
Watch Dogs DOES NOT use Unreal 3. It is using a new Disrupt engine.
Where are you getting your information from?
Metro Last Light run better on PS3. It's depends on the developer that is making the game.

The "graphical horsepower" between the Xbox and PS3 isn't noticeable, both 720P low powered consoles by modern standards.
You have a couple of stand-outs like Halo 4 and Uncharted, but other than that, it's a wash graphically, both look absolutely terrible today.
Generally most developers go with the Unreal Engine, which started to show it's age badly during the early years of the generation, texture pop-in, poor lighting, poor textures, you name it. - Perfect example would be Mass Effect 3.
When a developer really works over the Unreal engine though, you can get some impressive stuff like Bioshock infinite on the PC, but that seems to be the exception not the norm.
Hopefully next generation more developers will decide to use something different like CryEngine.
If you are truly worried about Graphics though (I doubt anyone is if they are exclusively gaming on a console!), build a PC, whack it under your TV, use a controller with Steams big picture mode and enjoy the better graphics, framerates, networking, sound and the cheaper games.

I thought it was, sorry.

I disagree. I don't think any PS3 game looks better than Halo 4.
You also gotta take scale into consideration. For example, Halo 4 has a huge maps with a lot of enemies out at once. While Uncharted games are basically small linear areas.

Quoting Jega: "Microsoft chose to go with the Unreal Engine 3 to power it's games." How does that not imply 1st party? Even if it didn't, Gears of War is still the only 360 exclusive that uses Unreal Engine 3, so my point stills tands. Jega seems to have created this thread without doing the proper research. A simple Wikipedia search is all it takes. Google if you're feeling bold. |
Lost Odyssey also uses UE3. And I'm sure I could find other exclusives that do.

Ok, so?
I don't think any console games looks better than God of War 3 (yeah, not even Ascension). But you're going to tell me I'm wrong because the game is more linear than Halo 4, which allows it to not have as many blurry textures and simplistic geometry?

God of War games also use a fixed camera. Halo 4 has large areas you can more feely explore in first person.
