No, Nintendo's kinda unique in the following that they have with the Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, DK, etc. brands, these are franchises that have been supported for 30+ years now.

PS has a lot of fans, but I don't think they have as many "fanatics", the Playstation is more of a brand outlet to provide third party content. 1st/2nd party stuff is kinda like a bonus, but on Nintendo machines they very much define the platforms entirely.

This is pretty much what I wanted to post.

Sony's first party are a bonus that comes with the 3rd party games, while Nintendo's first party define their platform, hence the "people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games" and "3rd party games don't sell on Nintendo consoles" beliefs.

But you said you'd get bored as fuck playing the same characters, so he is right.

Come again?

I think the fandom of the two groups is different. I think that Nintendo fans are more committed to the franchises. They are devoted to Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon etc. Whereas Playstation fans are devoted to the brand.Sony has dropped a good bit of their franchises over the years, but still maintained their fanbase. If Nintendo dropped Zelda or Mario, they would lose a lot of fans. I think that's the main distinction.

If you say so.

The only reason why I like gaming on the PS platform is because I know that they'll bring new IP's every gen. I'd be bored as fuck playing the same character/s every gen.. hell, if Sony kept on using the same franchises for each new iteration of consoles, I'd just play on PC. SCEE first party, second party and third party titles keep me coming back for more, not devotion to a brand. That's just fanboy-ism.

I don't think so...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

With the exception of some dude bros on PS side and casuals on Wii side, I think both aren't so different. They like good experiences on their games, regardless of taste.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

Well yes, I didn't see why we wouldn't be.

I make videos that are sometimes funny I think?

I think the big difference is that Nintendo fans also play Nintendo games, while if you buy a Playstation most people play 3rd party games so I don't think they have the same kind of relationship with PS as others have to Nintendo. .. but that's just my thoughts.

They are. I buy Playstation to play Sony's first parties. We have the luxury of playing both.

You lucky bastards!!

But what I base my thoughts on are the fact that Nintendo games sell more than Sony's 1st party games. Yes, Sony has some heavy hitters (GT, UC, GoW notably), but there are more Nintendo games that sell more units compared to Sony 1st party. That to me signals that there are more loyal Nintendo fans than there are Sony fans. I think that most people buy PS to play 3rd party games, and the minority actually plays Sony's own games. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

There are outspoken fans everywhere. You are just noticing all the Sony one's so much now because the PS4 (face it people) looks so much more desirable than the Xbone.

this is very true, sony 1st party games dont sell nearly as high as nintendo ones.

Yeah, Nintendo has more high profile 1st party games than Sony. I think the 7th generation is a pretty good example of how the industry works; PS2 sold incredibly well, but that was forgotten the next gen when 360 "stole" half of Sony's costumers. Most gamers are just that; gamers. They got where the games are, no matter the brand.

Let me paraphase a quote someone made who perfectly described yet another great member of vgc past, "It was once Nintendo or Sega; now, it's Nintendo or nothing"

Seriously, is this a sexual euphemism of whose penis is girthier vs whose is lengthier? What about the xbones?

Anyone else find it extremely ironic that non playstation fans are telling playstation fans how they feel? There is an undeniable following for playstation so the sort and simple answer, yes.
