Forums - Sony - Rumor: Ubisoft revealing new racing IP called 'The Crew' at E3 2013

Last month, Ubisoft released their financial reports for the year of 2012. During the report, mention of "two unannounced titles" was put forth, with one being an "all new" series that "we never heard of." As it turns out, the one we have heard of is Rainbow Six: Patriots (click here) under development by Ubisoft Toronto.

As for that "all new" series that no one has heard of? Chatter started on various french websites regarding a "racing" title in the works (source below). Today, a source confirmed that Ubisoft has been working on an all new racing franchise called "The Crew," being developed by Ubisoft's Reflection's Studio. It's been described to me as a "realistic title, possibly being positioned against Forza and Gran Turismo." Very little information was given, but if true, we should see an announcement and possible trailer this E3. The title is said to be for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and possibly current generation consoles.

E3 is going to be amazing this year. Lots of new games.

Hmmm, I don't really like the sound of this.

The last (full) game made by Ubisoft Reflections was Driver San Francisco, which I really enjoyed. The key to that was the over the top nature of the game, but if these rumours are right, then it is another down to earth realistic simulator. I tried GT, but I would rather something more arcadey like GRID.

I would imagine this wouldn't be out until next year given they already have Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV coming out this holiday

^Well, the money is in realism nowadays, especially for racing games.

I guess so, but it just doesn't interest me. Need for Speed still does well and that is far from realistic, but I guess a lot of that is the brand and the good Criterion games

Yes! I FINALLY get to play as a member of the pit crew instead of actually driving!

Against Forza and Gran Turismo, though? Why fly into the teeth of the dragons?

Perhaps it's really a game about the break-dance sensation of the 1980s?

another racing game? this is getting boring. we have drive club, GT6, forza and project cars all set up for the same year. i have a feeling if this releases this year it will ultimately fail

"...play as a crew manager whose goal is to micromanage your team members in a series of Sims-inspired task completion minigames that upgrade fitness, knowledge, speed, humor, and the like."

What? Is this real?

i'm sure it will be a smash hit, just like their popular soccer IP

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Didn't EA try this with shift and fail? And now we have Project Cars and Drive Club coming soon... I don't think there's room for this.
