This is just a theory but here me out. I think its called Sonic Lost worlds because the levels will be based off of cancelled sonic games! Me and my friend have been thinking about it. I don't just think it is based off of Sonic Extream but other sonic games also

In the IGN interview that went out earlier this afternoon, they said that they were building the levels completely around the gameplay opportunities, not the other way around that they usually do. This means that it's extremely unlikely that these levels at all represent cancelled game levels.

It's simply called "Lost World" because the game takes place in a lost world that Sonic encounters while chasing Dr. Robotnik.

If they want to give the game some Nintendo flavor, better put some "Lost" in the name, like Mario "Lost" Levels.

SEGA is not doing anymore collection of idea games. Its not Generations 2
