Forums - Sales - eBay Germany pushing Wii U with swipe at XBOne

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/05/ebay_germany_takes_a_swipe_at_xbox_one_suggests_wii_u_as_viable_substitute

This is the side of the whole "no used game" thing that I figured could come back to haunt producers.  Just as many 3rd parties would like no used games, many retailers really want them.  So the question is, who is it better to have on your side- the people making the games or the people selling them?  In the above link eBay Germany (who likes used sales, obviously) is pushing Wii U saying that it is a no-hassle alternative to XBox One.  I think this could really impact the market if more retailers follow suit.  You?

LOL

could this potentially be a problem for MS though? if retailers start pushing other consoles instead of the X1, might this cause some big problems for microsoft?

Retailers are obviously pissed by MS attempt to kill the used games market. Expect more of this from now on.

That's what I'm thinking.  It's one thing for us on the internet to bitch about used-game blocking, it's a whole other thing for retailers to promote other systems.  That will reach general consumers in the mass market.  Just as EA pulls games from Wii U to push its preferred XBox format, retailers could do the opposite, pulling shelf space or promotional material in favor of a system that fits their business model better.  Some might not want to lose the short-term sales (the Ubisofts of retailers), but others may feel its worth short term pain for long term gain if their preferred system with a better used game market wins a bigger share (EA thought process retailers).

from what i understood is that microsoft has good partnerships with the big retailers in USA. but what about other countries that depend on a lot of smaller retailers?  as you said it would be a whole other problem because they would be talking diretly to literally every consumer, from the casual, core or mass market they would send the message.

i never really thought about this happening but now that i do it will be interesting to watch.

Retailers make good money reselling used games, so this attitude is understandable.

PSPGO was the last console which tried to screw retailers and it failed miserably.

I'm sorry this is ridicilous... You can't get one anymore because the PSPgo is just always sold out because of high demand..
