i cross referenced this statement against the ps3 launch earlier. ps3 had 31 exclusives in it's first year 13 of which where first/second party.

so while not a huge number it puts it in parity with sony.

then of course remember that you won't like all 15 of those games. there will be something along the lines of sesame street: once upon a monster in terms of good or not,.. you won't care.

Plus another 24 PSN exclusives, 11 made by Sony (based on Wikipedia lists). If Microsoft is counting these, they probably are quite behind (bearing in mind the PS3 had "no games").

I suppose with the old reliables plus the new ones it should be OK.

Yeah, as everyone says, the number is pretty meaningless. Quality games are more important than quantity. I think you're better off having 3 AAA+ type games than 15 bad or even average games. A great launch needs a killer app, preferably with a few other solid titles. Super Mario Bros pushed the NES, Halo made the XBox worthwile and millions bought Wii for WiiSports and Zelda.

Doesn't sound like a lot to me, compare it to Ps3 and 360 launch and you will at least know if it's more than before...?

People saying quality over quantity but i like to think diversity is a much more important factor.

These numbers mean nothing if they don't get respectable metas.

Well, at least Forza 5 is 1 confirmed 90+ meta title. Turn 10 never disappoints.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

They said that of the 15 games 8 of them would be new IPs... there is literally no point in them having 8 new core gaming IPs in the first year, it's just competition for themselves and that gets them no where, so considering you know there is a Forza game in the works, Halo 5 will undoubtedly be one of the 15 launch games so that means the only core area open is something along the lines of a 3rd person fps a la Gears of War. So you can basically expect to see 7 new IPs along the lines of "Kinect Juggling" "Kinect fly swatting" "Kinect begging and pleading for a voice command to recognize" and other such delights all of which we've played in some form or other with the current console. Anyone thinking that these 15 games are going to be 15 Uncharted lvl's of game are living on the same planet as the guy from MS who thinks this system is going to sell 1b.

in the first year?  i thought the wiki list i used also included psn but maybe not.  i'd have to double check.

No, the list is missing them. I noticed things like the Pixeljunk games weren't there and found this:

So Xbox One announced 15 exclusive titles at their conference in its first year on market.  I'm thinking this means November to November so all the big holiday releases will be out.

When examining this I am looking at WiiU a system people have labeled as "lacking software."  So it has, by my count so far, over 10 games already that could be considered exclusives (MH3 in a new version and such).  I don't think that sounds like a lot to be honest.  Now one big advantage both PS4 and One have to WiiU is the third party stuff to fill the gaps but still is 15 really that much?

Remember these can include Kinect, XBLA, and remakes (special versions that are only for that console)

too many exclusives lead them to fail tbh.  alot of games that didn't sell well was because because have to decide which game they want more.  think about it ps3 had a shit load of exclusive that didnt sell well.  it wasnt because they were bad games but mostly people being thrifty

this is true but also because of Sony's horrible marketing and COD and madden hogging an unfair number of sales for themselves EVERY year which hurts new IP especially
