Interesting. Sony is definitely in bad position, if 3rd parties are demanding this DRM stuff then Sony has no other option but to meet their demands, but at the same time they don't want to piss their customers. I think Sony is simple going to play the waiting game, and see how the Xbone develops. I do wonder though. If Sony does indeed had plans to implement some sort of DRM on the PS4, wouldn't it be too late to back down? I mean the system is probably made to had this specifications and at this point in time in would be risky to just change it. They could do it of course, but I wonder is that's going to delay the console's launch by a lot. |
Publishers may push and push Sony to go forward with that kind of thing. But ultimately, if Sony decides not to go through with it, it's not like those devs can afford to not make games for the PS4 entirely. Third party publishers have been vocal for quite some time about the financial benefits of being multi-platform. Depending on the popularity of each of the new systems, those devs may not have the choice to develop for either of them. Because even though they dislike the fact that the used game market doesn't bring them money, It's still better to sell than not to sell at all.
@OP: Misleading title illustrating an agenda.
Keighley said "based on some of the things I'm hearing". Not that he has any actual sources. Could be based on internet rumors for all we know. But you chose this title because like this it brings you clicks, and of course puts Sony in a bad light.
