Hmm, hard to say. I read an article about the UK having 7 distinct classes.

My family is certainly upper-middle class. However, I'm now 21 and am starting to break away from them, I am becoming my own class... I'm probably starting out as middle-middle (in Hong Kong).

Obviously, it's far easier to be middle-class in Hong Kong than in the UK. 15% income tax versus 50%+? 0% sales tax versus 20%?

high working or low middle

Well I would say somehwere between middle and upper class but certainly not upper class.
But according to the British class caluclator, we are in the elite class although it does help that over here there is no income tax. You can see what class you are here:

Working class, which tends to explain my political beliefs

The ruling class.

While the first votes were indeed almost all "middle class", the preliminary results are more diverse and realistic than I expected btw.

Way too many people consider themselves to be "upper class" of course, but I'm surprised that so many people indeed realize that they are working class or lower. Maybe it has to do with the language? "Working class" sounds rather neutral or even slightly positive to me, while In my own language, german, the corresponding word has an extremely negative touch ("Unterschicht" - which kind of reminds of "Untermensch"). I wonder if the results would be different in a german forum.

It's part that, since Woking class and Middle class can be seen as the same thing as opposed to poor or lower class.

Also, this is the politics forum where to be quite honest... people are far more interested in politics and therefore far more aware of things such as median income and correct definitions of class level.

Additionally, being on the internet on a videogames forum that would tend to skew this towards the "Rich" side as a lot of poorer people don't have internet access, let alone money to be spent on videogame consoles.

So people on he edges of working class and rich know better.
