Forums - Gaming - Why does everyone think Xbox One automatically wins US/UK? Discussion

MS has TV and the NFL in addition to the same games PS4 does. It will win Murica. Who knows about UK.

I'm sorry this argument makes no sense. Microsoft doesnt have tv, you need to have tv in order to use the service microsoft provides.  And alot of people dont have that kind of subscription these days with the internet.  You can just hookup a laptop to your tv and there you go.  Its a nice feauture but its not the winning factor imo.

Because Xbox 360 won there and our minds tend to go for the simplest logic.

Truth is, we just had one crazy gen and we don't know what the next will bring. The only thing I'd say is 99.999% guaranteed is MS not winning in Japan.

lol well that goes without saying. Yet Americans are no where NEAR that loyal. We would sell our grandma for a smartphone.

what? you dare to make a statement which generalizes the buying-behaviour for about 315 million people.

Like a boss...

Um...yes. But my statements are derived from actual  verifiable data/statistics.

  • Japan has NEVER accepted the Xbox line. TRUE
  • US consumes the most and gives the least in the world. TRUE
  • US hasn't ever shown complete loyalty to any one console for long. TRUE

And where did you get this "verifiable data/statistics" from? You own alternate reality?
It is true because you believe it and just throwing words like "verifiable", "data" and "statistics" will not change this to fact.
And what you just posted shows that the US consumes the most.. .That's it, nothing do do with giving the least or not being loyal.

I disagree with 2 of them about the US.

I do not think it is an automatic win for US/UK but chances are very high.

what are you talking about.

Are you trying to say that any of my statements are false? Has Xbox or Xbox 360 sold around or more than other consoles in Japan and no one told me? Thats 2/3 times unsuccessful, natural aclination says this one will most likely be unsuccessful too. US Consumerism, proven by the links I posted for other guy. And look at VGC stats on previous consoles to see the "Winners" of each gen change constantly. DUH!

Greatness Awaits

PSN:Forevercloud (looking for Soul Sacrifice Partners!!!)

Very good point. It seems rather irrational to say Xbone is going to win a generation based on the fact that its predecessor has won only one generation. I think people are banking most on the fact that the 360 is a western console and consumers are patriots who will prefer a home console built in the west.

I don't think this is the case. Core gamers will buy whatever is best and most casuals don't care about the companies enough to make decisions based on such aspects. The 360 capitalised on all the mistakes that the PS3 made and gained a big head start. By the time Sony recovered, the 360 had already gained a large fanbase which kept growing due to brand name and the idea of "my friend has it so I have to get it".

I am interested to see what happens when all those variables involving Sony's major mistakes are taken out. If after that Xbone still wins then we can say that there is some kind of trend going on here. Otherwise it was just situational.

This doesnt means that the X1 isn't going to sell in japan. Look at how iphone is selling in japan. If microsoft wants a pice of the japanese market , they need to come up with a diffrent aproach to japan than they did with the 360.  I'm not saying that its gonna  happen ^^ but its possible.

Aside from the ridiculous comment that the US is the least charitable nation, for your information it gives the most. Ill focus on your gaming statements.

The us is beast of a consumer and not only that are by far the least prejudice with their consuming dollars. Which does mean that the us consumer can easily switch over to the ps4 next gen, however this doesn't appear to be the case.

First, the Xbo and the ps4 will go on sale same date your assumption to the contrary is simply not supported.
Second, the us market continues to prefer the the Xbox over the ps3 despite your claim that hardcore gamers are in lock with the Sony brand, this cement is again simply far, In the is the hard core gamer is evenly split with a advantage to ms.

Third, the brand appeal of ms is quite high in the us and the uk for that matter, and it shows no sign of falling apart.

I think Sony will do better than this generation in the us and the uk but I think ms will still win the sales war.

If you mean they wil do better in those 2 country's than yeah high probability for sure. I think wordwide sony is gonna win handsdown.

If Sony doesn't block used games (or as badly) they won't.

For a large part of the regular casual audience.

America = Shooters/Sports games.

Europe = Fifa/Racing games.

Xbox has established itself as the Madden Box in the same way that Playstation is the FIFA box.

People will buy the system they can play Madden/Fifa with their friends.

Their friends who buy first will assume that will be the brand of the console they played vs their friends last time.

This is why Microsoft went out of their way to get exlusive NFL and FIFA content.

Correction:As far as "Giving the Least" goes, we consome several times more than our closest competitor, waste a whole lot, and we are only middling in charity work. When averaged out, we give the least.

Fifth out of a 140 countries is middling in charity to you?
