Since the Xbox One needs to be connected to the internet once a day, does that mean Xbox Live will be a requirement?

It won't be I'd say.
Considering silver members do have some functionality on the 360
only you need is an internet connection.
what do you mean by needs to be connected to the internet everyday,i'm not up to date on the needs of xboxone but surely you can still play games if your internet doesn't work or you are not hooked up for whatever reason

Whenever you game , you have to be online at least once every 24 hours so that Microsoft can verify that your game is legit (whether gameplay is online or offline). NO one really knows what happens if you failed to connect in that time. You probably will not be allowed to play the game at all.

Xbox Live won't be a requirement, but many features are behind the Xbox Live paywall.
