Now that we've seen all sorts of bashing for the new Xbox One, from DRM and Kinnected issues to 'it caters to tools', from dogshit to Fantasy Football, the one thing we can be absolutely sure about is the design.

And boy have I seen a lot of people comment on the supposed ugliness of the device.

It's not like you'll be wearing it outside of your house right?

Are you afraid visitors will point at it and make fun of it like you were having an ugly piece of art hanging at your wall?

Will you be ashamed when it is standing next to your tv?

In short, would you pass by on a (ANY!) console just because you think it's design is poor?

I don't get it... The PS4 will more likely than not look very similar.


Personally I think it looks sleek and hi-tech, so does my girlfriend and several of my friends. Online though.... it's another story....

For most of us probably not, but the mainstream buyer consumes with the eyes, is not the fact that the device is always going to be in your room, it's about what makes you think when you see it on the store shelf.

At least it is stackable which is great when having other hardware. Given how many AVRs look like it will fit into setups better than before.

Not really. If the design of the console is great, I consider it a bonus.

Not really. Most important thing is whether or not something will actually fit inside my entertainment center.

XBone seems as though it will.

As long as it doesn't look hideous or so out of place with normal interior design, it'll be fine. It's not really a point that would make people go for one console or the other, or want to really buy the console. It's a minimum requirement.

overall i don't really care. yeah, i'll probably comment at how pretty/ugly it is when revealed but for the most part it wouldn't factor into my purchase decision. as long it isn't so big or awkwardly shaped that it can't fit onto the shelf i have i don't really care. not for a console at least.

..with phones and laptops (that are obviously more tactile products) i care a lot more about the aesthetics.
