lot of what you say is speculation. Sony havent announced anything so why should I assume that there is any more than 5 titles being made?

Based on what  Both companies said and announced, Sony has more to prove on the games front than Microsoft from an announcemnt point of view. Currently Mirosoft has confirmed more gaming wise.

We know Forza 5 arguaeably the best launch title ever is available day 1. We know ryse and Quantum Break are story driven experiences and mor surprising that Ryse uses the traditiona controller with Kinect enhancements. Being by Crytek this game will arguably be th best looking game in the first 12 months of the PS4 and One considering Crytek track record with visuals.

ALl this Kinect talk from sad fanboys is pathetic. 3 Exclusives revealed by Micrsoft and all 3 use traditional controller and are what is considred AAA and for the core gamer. And 1 new IP already.

Seems Microsoft are putting core gamers in the firing line.

Until Sony say or announce coe games worth my time then I may get excited about PS4 game lineup. ut ther conference said to me shootes and poor openworld game.

Oh u mean Forza 4.5 with no gameplay.. going against DriveClub and GT6 good luck with that. and quantun break.. that TV show/game something, Ill prefer to play Beyond on PS3. And in graphics Crytek going up against Santa Monica and Naughty Dogs on 50% more powerful hardware then the DVR in I guess people will know what to choose.

15 exlusive MS announced.. well get a load of this every first party studio is working on a PS4 title confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida. and there are 15 of them Oh and Majority of those developers have two teams including GG and SMS who are also working on a new IP.. and not to mention Final Fantasy and Agent "please be excited"

how sad it must b to come home with ur 15 exclusive and ur friend asks to borrow ur game but u cant give him Coz of DRM... naah may be he has a PS4 :D

Wait. Every studio?

So wait Im sure they are at some stage of the process. But when is SOny releasing them?

GT7? is that 10 years away? Seriously I gave up waiting for GT5. Naughtys Dogs game after LOU. Is that gonna be ready before 2016? Ascension just released. GOW next will that be around in next 3 years? Seriously what great studio does Sony have that will make me buy a PS4 in the first 2-3 years? I'm sure they are working on some titles.

But I want to know from Sony why I should purchase a PS4 at launch. Cause as things stand Xbox One is shaping up to have an awesome first year of exclusives and first content.

Its easy to say but we know that all devs are working on titles, but Microsoft have narrowed down timelines much closer than Sony. And confirmed 8 new IP's. Ryse and Quantum Break being 2 of those we know of. Ryse even having full traditional controller support with Kinect enhancing showing just how much Microsoft has made sure the core is looked after.

Final Fantasy? I wont comment on the absolute trash SE put out or not put out lately. FF13 was a mess and FF Versus 13 has been in development longer than Videogames have been around.

lol U doubt sony's ability to pump out games from their studio.. and u really think MS new inexperienced studio will meet the deadline.. heck they didnt even have Forza 5 footage to show at the conference and Turn 10 is their most exprerienced. Lack of footage only prove the rumor that MS development is behind 6 months... good luck with ur 15 exclusive in one year!

And the most famous one GT5 delay how much do u think delay was from  GT5 prologue to GT5 and now GT6 2007 to 2013 5 years 3 games wheres the delay?? every sony studio has been releasing games every two years on average and this is when they had one team to working on complex PS3 architecture. Sky is the limit on how fast they are going to do it with PS4 x86 architecture...

I dont believe i m even explaining  you sony's abilty to produce games. thats just common sense!! oh wait!! what m i saying? Ur more excited about the release time of the games on xbox one than the games themselves.

And about Ryse! did i miss the part where they showed the footage and release date of the game.. but MS didnt even have a proper working Kinect at the conference...!

So in true fashion let me get this straight.

Your saying that with no confirmation or any details whatsoever Sony are in the better postion because you just 'know' they are making games oh so fast right now. And your so sure you dont need proof. Then your saying that Microsoft are full of crap even though they actually announced info.

Difference is I have proof. You dont. Sony brought nothing, and have conmfirmed nothing about the launch window leaving me not knowing what is going on wit PS4.

I know more about The One right now and its launch window games than Sony's. And thats even with Sony showing me some gameplay. But how do I know it was running on a PS4. I couldnt see a PS4, so for all I know it could have been running on a PC.

Console (or rather DVR or Tivo) just continues to sound even more pathetic. Not even considering a purchase at this point. The 15 exclusives were nothing more than PR talk. No way all of those will release within a year (if they even exist), and no way will they all be "good". Lets face it, Microsoft does not have that many good first party developers. Those games will most likely be no better than the non shooters they attempted on the 360 that failed. They neither have Nintendo's or Sony's first party talent to create such a huge roster of good games in so little time.

A great claim on the internet. But after owning a PS3 and told I will love the exclusives I cant disagree more. Not everyone liked the PS3 exclusive games as much as you think. Some were great while to many took focus away from control all the time. Tat became annoying and boring. To the point I havent even biought UC3 as I havent felt the need to. 2 just dragged waaaaayyyyy to much.

then which exclusive did u like.. and held ur "FOCUS" Halo? or Gears of war? or Forza? no wait halo? or fable or gears of war, or Halo!

Xbox go Home ur a dragggg

Actually loved GOW3 and all the R&C's. Also loved LBP. Thought its older games went down a bad route.

a) Kinect used a passive infrared system, where an area is blanketted with IR light, and the temperature/strength of that light is measured to calculate the distance.  It's a technology that's fraught with peril, as it can easily be washed out in bright sunlight.

b) Kinect 2 uses a passive infrared system, where a laser scans the room and depth and motion is measured based on the time it takes for the light (photons) to return from the surface it's shot at.  This is the same technology used by satellites to map the earth, it's called LIDAR.  Kinect 2 is so much better than Kinect, that it is possible for Kinect 2 to measure your heart rate.  In fact, it is possible for it to detect certain medical conditions as they're happening.

a) No, the spacial shift of the random speckle pattern is transformed into depth information (in the case of Kinect, with approximative formulaes, as the exact formulaes include triangular functions, and the processor in the PrimeSense was removed by MS late in the stage).

b) Kinect2 is a tof-camera. It uses a very short IR pulse (not a laser) and measures the time of flight of the photons (hence tof) that bounce back from whatever they get reflected. The heart thing has nothing to do whatsoever with the tof camera. The only medical condition Kinect2 would be able to detect is the condition when you are lying dead on the floor.

I incorrectly said passive.  It should be active.  Yes, it is a TOF camera.  I believe the IR Pulse is still done by a low power laser as it was in Kinect.

The heart thing does actually have everything to do with the TOF camera.  The camera is sensitive enough to measure the pulse evident in certain parts of your skin.  In fact it can also detect flushing of the skin.  If you watch the Kinect 2 video, you'll see this mentioned.

If it's capable of detecting flushing or if it is able to monitor your pulse, there are certain medical conditions that it would be able to detect.  A cardiac arrhythmia for instance.

Also in regards to Kinect, one processor was removed.  Microsoft had the option of putting two processors on-board the Kinect but opted not to because 1) at the full resolution of the cameras, the bandwidth available of the USB 2 connection couldn't handle the amount of data that could have been pushed down the pipe, with a reduced resolution there was less data and less need for having the two ICs, and 2) for what amount of data was left with the lower resolution, it could be offloaded onto the console.

The problem wasn't even technically the USB 2 pipe, but rather the USB controller in the original Xbox 360 design.  This was modified with the Slim, hence the dedicated port, but because the original couldn't provide the bandwidth, especially if anything else was plugged into the USB ports, they had to reduced the amount of data they were sending down to the console.

It was obvious that the show wasn't real time when channels were changing so fast. Just because you connect a cable box to a XBox One doesn't magically make the hardware in the cable box better. Anyone who uses a cable box knows full well that it cannot change channels that quickly.

Also if you watchted the event you can see a segment where the presenter uses hand gestures to stretch to full screen and the screen shrinks again without him doing anything, causing him to attempt to play catchup to cover up his error.

History tells us that MS conferences are all staged and you cannot really take anything at face value.

I could have just been a fake cable chanel. I was fairly sure that none of those shows were actually on live, it was just a demonstation. I am willing to believe that the One really does work like that

Having said that, what I really want to see is a man (or woman) with a controller playing a game on stage

I think this is what we can expect from E3 for both Sony and MS. No pc-hardware which is similar to console-tech, no fake-demos, hands-on gaming on the final hardware.

It doesn't matter if it is a PC, I am fine so long as there is a man with a controller

I would love it if Microsoft or Sony literally got out their console, turned it on and then inserted a disc and started playing to show us it is all real

Exactly, and that is what E3 will most probably (and hopefully!) show us! Finally, we waited so long for this.

I just feel that is what you should do first. Don't show us the box and make some vague promises over games then make us wait 3 weeks...

The fact that it is just an overlay and not a cable box replacement, how could it enable you to change channels faster than the hardware in your cable box would actually allow?

It's not a cable box, it is a video feed of some sort

Yes, but you need to plug your cable box into the XBone. It is similar to Google TV.

I know. I'm saying that in the demo, it wasn't a real cable box, it doesn't represent real world use. All I mean to say is that they could well have actually been changing channel, but they were probably just fake channels

No.  Kinect 2 is significantly better than Kinect.  They aren't even comparable.

Any source for those claims? Because everything I've read so far sounded like Kinect 2 is pretty much Kinect 1, just at a higher resolution (+ a new infrared stream, which however sounded like it was pretty much only useful as a low-resolution replacement for the RGB stream in low-light sitations).

Now I would agree that increasing the resolution is a clear improvement that should help accuracy, but I'd hardly call that "not even comparable to Kinect 1".

Ah, gotcha.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Same. The fact that this along with the fake audience sound supposedly is news material is mind-boggling.

Goes hand in hand with the rise of "reality" TV: People trust way too much of what they see.

The clapping wasn't fake, it was just from Microsoft employees.  There were times when it was total dead silence and you could tell either Mattrick or the other guy thought there would be a more positive response.  I don't think anyone should expect the press to clap.  Not when nearly every person there seemed to be live blogging the event.  You could clearly see some seemed to be balancing laptops on their laps while they watched, so I think clapping was out of the queation and the presentation should have been directed as such.

Microsoft employees = Fake audience

Press at PS4 Event did clap, they had laptops too.. but cheering for Xbox one was so superficial, they were cheering for stuff which was not even amussing at all..

While I agree with you, I'm confused by your "they were cheering for stuff which was not even amussing at all."  People don't necessarily just cheer or clap for things that are amusing to them, but for things they like or approve of.  There is also, often in some situations, applause out of acknowledgement.

I certainly agree, during Microsoft's presentation there were times when an applause wasn't warranted, but I also believe there were times when one was.  Which, if you have your hands free, and I'm sure Microsoft employees did, then you'd be clapping.  There were also things where they didn't quite register as resoundingly with the employees themselves.  The NFL announcment only got a small applause, while the Halo announcement got a significant applause.

As an audience, I think it is acceptable that Microsoft employees applauded, they have every right to.  I don't think they acted as a fake audience, because what got wide-spread applause and what didn't get much at all varied.  Even to the point that in some instances the audience (which includes Microsoft employees) didn't applaud.  So, to me, they appeared to be acting genuinely more so than a canned audience would.

yeah just the way u "know" Forza 5 will be mindblowing because forza 4 was so great. And also those 15 unknown exclusive will be better than Sony's unannounced titles Oh because MS PR said so!

PS4 - at launch, Driveclub,  Knack, infamous, witnessm, hohokum, Killzone SF. with actual gameplay of on stage uploaded on facebook via PS4 in front of capacity crowd,

Xbone - Forza 5 and quantum break those 15 unseen hypothetical games

so in that fashion show i dont believe MS will release those 15 exclusive, in a year the way u believe  sony wont release any game after those.. 5 confirmed exclusive in first year.

Can anyone remember ghost recon demo for kinect. I thought it was real. But now I think it was fake. Msoft did the same thing again.
