Forums - Microsoft - What Japanese people think about the Xbox One?

"They [Microsoft] are not looking at Sony or Nintendo, but are frantically coming up with countermeasures for Apple and Google."

"Television. The NFL. These things seem the biggest, but in Japan, they're totally irrelevant. For Japan, it's totally over. It's at the point where it doesn't matter if this doesn't sell in Japan."

I especially agree with these two. The Xbox One felt like an American top set box for Americans and Americans only, not something of global appeal or something that was built for games

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

How will MS survive without the 1 million consoles sold in Japan.

Also, what is Idolmaster?

Best Game in the History of Mankind!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

A lot of the PS3 numbers are because people here in Japan bought the PS3 as a DVR system using Torne, and not video games. Overall game sales are pretty poor in Japan unless it is a really well known franchise. It is pretty difficult for new games to get a foothold here.

lol Japan is irrelevant. wouldn't that make every country that isn't the USA irrelevant. some people just make me lol

The Japanese are too patriotic to the things that are made in Japan. I don't think they will be into Xbox One anyway

"I wonder how Americans are gaming at home. Whenever I'm playing a game, I never feel like I want to watch TV, so the ability to switch between the two makes no sense to me."

Wonderful. For people saying Japan is irrelevant your blowin smoke. Japan will be the reason why PS3 beats outsells the 360 in the end and the reason MS will never have the top spot. The amount of more consoles they would have to sell in other regions to make up for what they aren't selling in Japan is nearly impossible to do consistently and thats without the competition.

You mean the 1.7 million or whatever the 360 has sold in Japan? I kind of think that would be pretty easy to make up in the US or Europe.

I suggest you read his post correctly. Then edit your post accordingly.

It was really apparent from the presentation that Xbox One is geared for Americans. I'm sure they'll sell big time over there.

Xbox 360 has a small cult following in Japan, and I believe Halo has a great fanbase there. So I think they will do well to match what Xbox did there.

People are writing off Microsoft too quickly, they might surprise us at E3.

"Ah, but if The Idolmaster 3 comes out, I guess I'll have to buy it..."

Microsoft's only hope in Japan.

Don't you mean "Microsoft's only customer in Japan"?

=P

Do the Japanese still play gaming consoles last time I checked Playstation 3 didn't even crack 10 million over there.

So I guess it's safe to say that the UK doesn't play consoles either since X360 hasn't even cracked 10 million there.
