Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's online requirements and fees are not set in stone.

@noname2200 I can think of a few with my deep in your pockets argument.....

anyway are we sure SONY is not walking the same line anyway ???? cause the always on thingy is a reality of future things to come, and great way to fight piracy.... and the fee things must be something coming straight from Devs pressure.... pretty sure if MS is the only one to do it, it might actually motivate a lot of third party to develop exclusive on XB rather than an other platform especially if XB dominates in the US

“Did we consider it? No, we didn’t consider it, the main reason being that many countries don’t have robust internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust internet.”

I love how every time their is a lot of buzz on the gamers plan everybody thinks its a major issue that concerns the majority.... we have to keep in mind that while we are some how the core of the market we represent a thin slice of it.... so if MS plan changes it won't because people are bitching on the verge, endgaget, kotaku or likes but because their is relevant commercial reason to do it.....

@ethomaz.... yeah but we are not talking about always online here... we are talking about a checkup every 24h.... this does not require a robust infrastructure....

Then why say anything at all if nothing is confirmed. Just say we don't have all the details laid out right now and will be announced when they are finished.

well one way or the other I'll get a XB1 so I don't really care..... mine is always on and online anyway, and I have no issue to pay XBL gold so far.... but that's because I despise sony as whole since the 90's... and I actually want a media box with casual and hardcore gameplay.... I am a movie buff and a big gamer (more than 200 games this gen and almost as many movie rented on XB on top of my Netflix and hulu+ subscription) and I have a family to keep entertained.... so nothing beside MS fulfills that need so far none what so ever.... and the ridiculous excuse I see don't really concern me since I can afford it with my household income....

the only issue is for country with bad infrastructure and youngster with a really tight budget, but when I see how much a smartphone cost and the plan that goes with it compare to a console and any fees they can throw in I'm just wondering how people think sometimes... they'd have more reason bitching against Verizon, Samsung, apple, at&t than any of the complain I see here....

That has nothing to do with what he said

Are PC's becoming more affordable? With a price tag of $500, I'm pretty sure this is not the answer for most. I wonder if the Halo TV series will kill the franchise, or the franchises fans kill the TV series.

All this back and forth is really annoying. I hope they get make up their mind by the time E3 arrives.

come who the hell is gaming today and doesn't have a wifi router ??? seriously this argument is just becoming ridiculous..... it's like bitching against school for asking you to bring pencils and paper to write on.....

and the fee is probably a request from devs directly.... so go bitch (bark) at the right tree....

so far I haven't seen anything that is really as bad as people make it look and way more things that actually appeal to me as a gamer and a media consumer compare to anything else on the market right now... from apple ecosystem, google ecosystem or PS offering.... nothing to me remotely match what MS is deploying since last summer.... and it's actually going way faster than any of the other ever went..... we finally will be able to see real innovation go forward like it was a decade ago before it became a pissing contest between brand image and patent trolls.....

idealy if SONY, STEAM and MS could merge we'd finally could go somewhere fast... but so far the only one looking like it wants to move forward rather than down your pocket is MS (and don't get me wrong they want to go there too heck they might even want to go deeper) but I much prefer their approach to it.... you can feel the maturity of the company, they have done the BS the other are doing now a decade or more ago.....

and same time at the end of next gen it will reflect on their stock price and market penetration, I have almost no doubt about it....
