Hey, if you buy used, the fee will still make it cheaper then paying full price.
But in the end, its to encourage smart buying and keeping what you own.
No big deal here people.

bargain bin shopping ftw?
I don't really approve of this, I hope Sony doesn't take this route(already don't like the online passes now) this can really hurt the sales of online games from site like Ebay/Amazon and more importantly; how will Gamestop and Gamefly react to this?
I'm jumping ship. Sony, please don't follow suit and stand your ground. I'm coming to you. No fees for online and no fees for lending games between friends.
This is actually a GOOD THING.
Now you can buy a game, install it to your HDD, SELL IT TO GAMESTOP!
If you think about it, this will enable you to buy more games and it will save you tons of money.
This is really bad, I can't played borrowed games without getting charged? =/ Kills the concept of renting as well.

Here is my first reason to not buy the Xbox One!
Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)
'When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called the people's stick'- Mikhail Bakunin
Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
Wait so this can mean one of two things:
-Either that Xbox One DOES require online at least for the first time you install the game. So if you don't have an internet connection, you can't start up a game, so it's not too far away from ALWAYS ON.
-Or that those watermarked rumours are somewhat true where the discs themselves are somehow marked to recognise if the game has been installed on to the hard drive and so requires a fee after the first installation. This would not require an internet connection.
I don't know which one but both sound horrible. You can't even rent or lend a game, let alone play used games. Aren't MS going to receive some serious backlash from Gamestop, who are their biggest retailers in their most sold region (America)? I don't now what they are thinking with his decision.
This is bad news. Part of the fun of games is taking them round to a friends house to play. This fee is unlikely to be small.
hmm, the thing that we need more info on is the price of the fee. If it's around $10 or $20, you are most likely still paying less then full retail. Now if they make you pay the full price as a fee then ya... I wonder how gamestop feels about this?

Not really. Gamestop would not be inclined to give anywhere near the amount you paid for the game, seeing as consumers will need to pay a fee for the game to work. Also, there might be a limit to how many times a disk can be activated.
