Forums - General - Getting a new smartphone. Any recommendations?

I've had an iPhone 4 for 2.5 years now. I like it.... but there's some things I dont like. Closed source and iTunes. Meh. I want to change it up and go with an Android phone. It'll be much easier to download and transfer music between my laptop and phone.

What's most important to me:

Durability (wont crack when dropped)

Camera quality (took over 2000 pics on my iphone. Features like HDR and Panorama mode are big for me)

Size (something a bit bigger than iPhone, but not overly big like the Samsung Note)

Maybe the Xperia Z or Galaxy S3/S4.

But I think you need to try a Android first to know if you will like it.

I have an Android Tablet (Nexus). I shouldve mentioned that.

I like how easy it is to transfer music on Android.

i just got the xperia go, awesome phone overall for mid level smart phone. fast web browsing and all that. but if your going to use it for games it is not very stable and can freeze/crash at times. Not to mention its suppose to be water proof and it seems quite durible.

If you want one pretty cheap, go with a Galaxy 3.

If you want a really recent one, go with HTC one. That phone feels really good.

If you're after something a bit more rugged, I believe Samsung are bringing out a tougher variant of the Galaxy S4 soon.

If you want something that won't break the budget but still has decent specs, you can't go past a Nexus 4, although a new one of those is rumored for June.

HTC One and Galaxy S4 are probably the best 2 phones right now.

You pretty much perfectly described the Nokia Lumia 920. The thing is a tank, takes some of the best pictures for a cell phone and is 4.3 inches across. The only problem for you would be it is a pretty closed OS.
