Forums - Microsoft - New Xbox Specs Rumors- 12gb GDDR5

If it is true, Sony will need to put at least 2 apus per console lol, 4.9 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1.8

Lol fake as can be. Anything over 6GB of GDDR5 or 8GB DDR3 is just a waste of money since I doubt even the most lazy of developers could use so much ram.

For comparison Battlefield 4 on the PC for recommended specs is 4GB DDR3 ram (probably 6GB DDR3 for ultra setting). And that game is gorgeous.

Unless they have a complete tank of a GPU 12 or even 8 GB of GDDR5 will simply be a waste.

There's only need for one RAM.

I like where you're going with this!

How else are they supposed to render those "Avatar quality graphics" rumored back in 2011?

DODGE RAM...

Fake as fake can be.
4.9 TFLOPS and 12GB GDDR5 is overkill, they'd be forced to either sell it at an insane cost or take a massive hit per console.
Not gonna happen.

"* To be precise, there is 4gb GDDR5 on the GPU and 8gb GDDR5 on the 8-Core IBM custom CPU."

GDDR5 stands for Graphics Double Data Rate, version 5, it's RAM for video cards. As per the name, GDDR5 is found in graphics chips. It would not be on the CPU. If fact, RAM is generally not on the CPU, that's what CPU cache is for. Whoever wrote this rumor clearly has no idea what they are talking about. At all.

I advise all of you to not take get too carried away with focusing on RAM. 2gb of GDDR5 RAM is considered very high end for current gaming PCs. The $1000 GTX Titan uses an absurd 6gb of GDDR5. The only reason the PS4 is going with 8gb of GDDR5 is because is because it plans to utilize it in lieu of system memory (what people know as DDR3) which is possible because it is a dedicated gaming system and generally doesn't have to worry too much about large scale multi-tasking and CPU intensive applications.
