7 years ago I would say no. But Kutaragi isn't working for Sony anymore.

Yeah, Kaz doesn't seem to be as stubborn... although... Nintendo might be stubborn enough for both of the companies ^^

The early and mid 90s were great times to be a gamer.

3D graphics, Chrono trigger, Nintendo and Sega at their highest moments, Sony and Nintendo breaking up and the arrival of Playstation.

I wish I wasn't so young back then, so I could enjoy that moment.

I totally understand what you mean! I was never aware those things took place at all :P

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Only if one of them goes third party, so not in the near future but in several years anything can happen.

As we all know Nintendo teamed up with Sony in the 90's, before backstabbing them and thus creating PlayStation and Sony domination for 2 gaming generations. But that's some 20 years ago. Could these two bitter rivals ever team up again?

Could they make the ultimate gaming phone together to counter the increasing threats of Smartphones to the portable market? Imagine 3DS games on a Sony/Nintendo phone running in 1080p with the ability to output video to hdmi, or beam to Wii U tablet. And would we as gamers like to play Sony/Nintendo games on either of their consoles? Imagine to be able to play PS1&PS2 games on Wii U, or Wii U games on PS4.

This would surely be the megaton of the century, but will it ever happen? What's the pros and cons?

if it were ever to happen it would be because one of the two became so weakened that they did out of necessity and thus the relavance of the situation would mute the entire thing.   ..like when sonic appeared on a nintendo system.

So there's no way at all that both companies could benefit from an arrangement like in the OP right now? How will Nintendo coup with the smartphone market? Why not team up with sony and make a gaming phone?

I'll sk you the same thing I asked APM: So there's no way at all that both companies could benefit from an arrangement like in the OP right now? How will Nintendo coup with the smartphone market? Why not team up with sony and make a gaming phone?

They already are. Mario & Flower Flower & Mario at the Olympic Games will be revealed next week... in game magazines...

benefits?  oh sure, i'm sure a meaningful partnership could do great things.

..but nintendo has too much of an independance mindset.  they'd never partner with anyone under the current management.  maybe sony would...i dunno, they'd probably welcome nintendo software with open arms but i doubt they'd be willing to make any meaningful concessions in hardware that would benefit nintendo.  they'd entertain the thought longer than nintendo but in the end i imagine they'd walk too.

which brings me back to my point.  as equals (which they currently are in the ballpark of) neither would give an inch.  should one fall from grace and be at the brink of desperation something could happen... but then who would care?

It might happen if Microsoft ends up dominating this gen.

Then Sony and Nintendo don't really have much of a choice. Imagine having Nintendo exclusive for your platform.
