But it really isn't a fair comparison, is it? I mean, all the Mario games listed likely include the smaller titles, like Party, Sports etc., which drags down the average whilst upping the overall number of games.

A fairer comparison would be 2D and 3D Mario only.

Would that make the sales of Mario games (overall) lesser?

It wouldn, but it'd still be ahead (aside maybe in the 6th Gen), but regardless it is fairer.

And wow, up your game Gran Turismo

One mainline game this generation. With one more added it will be close to 30m by the time PS3 stops selling (gen 7).

The emoticon, do you see it?

Should be funny because it may end up almost exactly the same as the 6th gen. Consistancy.

There is no way PS4 isn't the lead platform. Announcement at E3 perhaps? The franchise relies on graphics and it's ridiculous to not use all available Sony hardware power.

On december MS announced that the halo franchise has sold 50 million with 4 million included from halo 4. Gran turismo has sold 70 million has sony announced recently. So please update ur numbers they seem a bit biased.

Another thing worth noting:

GT4 Prologue and GT Concept 2001 Tokyo have no NA sales listed. They didn't release there, so that's one disadvantage. Also including those prologues is kind of unfair since they were only a small taster, not full games

no all is fair including prologues. His numbers are off.

what are your sources. These are coming directly from sony and MS themselves  thus more accurate.

That's why it isn't a totally fair comparison; similar to my Mario suggestion.

In addition, I have a suspicion that not a lot of work has gone into this. A quick "Mario" search leaves this as one of the entries:

So yeah, merely including "main" titles (i.e. 2D and 3D Mario, Numbered GT, Halo ignoring Wars) would be fairer. But I'm not sure what we're comparing?

-_-  VGC.  You are using out of date shipped figures.  The results I posted will be fairly accurate.

To be fair, the sales should be pretty close now since Halo 4 has sold about 4m more. It might be at 54m perhaps or 55m but the difference won't be huge in any case.

He numbers gran turismo at 67.something which is not inline with sony's numbers over 70 million. However His numbers are inline with MS's numbers 50million +5.something million which might actually be a bit overtracked.
