Touch pick, especially when factoring in all the revolutionary PC games at the time.

I'm torn between Super Metroid, FFVI, and XCOM. These games more or less represent the pinnacle of their respective genres (or at least did so for a long time), so my only criteria left is whatever remains of my fanboy allegiance. Super Metroid wins.

well for one lunar released dec 22 '94 in japan and almost none of us are jap. second i chose games that are noteworthy for their success, quality and lasting effect on the industry.

Then, doesn't Mega Man X count as a 1994 game since it was released in January 1994 in the U.S?
I think it's an important game and it should have been included in the poll.
