Forums - Website Topics - How is this issue justified on VGC? Rule is to be civil

I have sent this to 3 moderators and wanted an answer to why these things are justified.  2 moderators ignored me and the other one gave me a vague response and basically said don't reply to these comments or we won't do anything about them.  In both of these cases I never lost my cool but i did say to calm down.

Here is the thing, I have noticed that cursing towards members has become more and more frequent recently.  I can think of 3 that has happened to me in just the last two weeks.  I have no problem with people cursing, but when you openly curse towards someone out of anger you are no longer being civil.

Rule

You always have the right to express your opinion, as long as it is relevant to the thread topic, and you do so in a civil manner, justifying what you say. If you want to discuss something other than the thread topic, make your own thread.

As you can see it is said in the rules to use a civil manner.  So let me ask how these are considered to be civil, both being said in the last 24 hours.  i will not state who they are.

We're not fucking 5 years old. None of the posts are what you've described, and it's not thanks to you. Stop trying to pretend that you're a mod or something.

I have one question for you: WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU GO TO A RECREATIONAL PUBLIC SITE AT SCHOOL OR WORK?! Seriously, are you aware of how they track you anyway?

Both of these are showing anger and are not saying it in a joking manner.  So how are thse considered civil?  How do you justify these type of comments?  I have never seen a site that allows people to curse towards other members.  In fact I have been permabanned for this exact reason in the past on another website.  So since the mods ignore me and will not answer why this is justified, what do you all think?

Did the Mods actually ignore you or were they just not online? They also could've had some other even more pressing issues to handle.

Though, I do agree that cursing is a tad ridiculous. Sometimes it's okay, other times it's just bad vocabulary. (In your case, it wasn't bad nor good. It didn't even seem to be directed at you. Just in your "direction.")

I think this is a gray area. Had they said, "what are you, 5?", they would have been moderated. They way it was phrased was not a direct attack on you, but I still think that it's unacceptable and that such attitude should be moderated.

Again?

Cursing is a part of everyday talk. The cursing was not directed at you there...it was added for emphasis like many people like to do.

First time I've brought this up publicly i believe?

So you think this is a civil way of making these comments?  In both situations they showed aggravation or anger.  Say this on any other site and you are banned.  Say this to your boss or at work and you are fired.  Say this to a teacher etc you are in trouble.

Putting emphasis on something can be done without anger.

As I said I don't mind cursing, but there is a fine line on how you say these things and these are not joking around.

What the fuck are you going on about?

Seriously... I don't get the issue. Its not like that person was attacking you or something. Maybe its just how they very casually talk with friends or whatever.

So now you want people to be moderating for cursing? You should take it easy on reporting every little thing to the mods and grow a thicker skin.

The curse words used were not used in an insulting manner. They were used to intensify their point. Was it tasteful or the best choice of words? Probably not. But expressing your anger or frustration, even with foul language, has never been against the rules; unless someone is being attacked.

Yes, you probably are.

take it up with Axum if you havent already. this thread will probably be locked, the reasons are pretty much stated in smeag's post in sprugs thread about the vgchartz jurry thread.
the thing is about those posts is that they didnt curse at you, they cursed while talking to you. it wasnt directed at you but more to express how they feel. yes, i know they could express it in a more civil manner, but if they start doing that then im afraid too much censorship could happen on posts, and before you know it fuck, bullshit or what ever is looked at as a curse word would be bannable

Yes they have been on.  One of the mods I sent it to I had seen ban someone an hour or so after I sent it so I know he was on.  Considering I sent this 6 hours ago as well.  Both of them has been on in the last 5 minutes in fact.

We need to deal with this fucking issue.
