Xenoblade wasn't even called Xenoblade at first. It was titled Monado: Beginning of the World for more than a year. It was only changed because Takahashi was directing it. Saga, Gears and Blade are separate series. Star Ocean is a continuous franchise going back 20 years.

Demon souls, Dark souls, Bloodborne.
People know they are related as they are made by the same guy. But they are separate series and ips.
But I am preaching to deaf ears and trashing this COMG! thread for a pointless debate. So I will stop and go back to cheering for my minor games.

Well, I guess I'll just point out that to be fair, the Souls games and Bloodborne (or rather - to quote Yachtzee - the From Software Game (for there is only one)) all share the same foundation and are easily recognizable as being cut from the same cloth. Many people would not be able to name the director of any of those games (and incidentally DS 2 was not directed by the same guy) but they can look at them and in under five minutes tell you that they are "Souls games." Xenoblade, on the other hand, looks and plays very differently from XenoSaga and XenoGears. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a bit more similar on the surface but is still very very different. In other words, you couldn't look at those three series and identify them as being cut from the same cloth if they didn't share that Xeno in their name, *especially* Xenoblade. Star Ocean though follows, to my knowledge, a specific line of development continuity from game to game. No someone teleported from the year the first one came out to today could not identify the newest Star Ocean as Star Ocean. But those who have seen the series as it has gone very likely could.
