It seems 2D Zelda has indeed gone quite weak :/ Even a mere remake is doing better than the latest 2D Zelda.

To be fair, A Link Between Worlds was mistakenly presented as something just shy of a remake. There was a lot of emphasis on it being the same world as A Link to the Past. Also being fair, that might be the reason it sold as well as it did. Hard to say.

Well both of that is true :v soooo the only explanation is... that a timeline split happened two timelines with those two possibilities, and a 3rd timeline where the game simply flopped :P But yeah, it is hard to say.

The Zelda series has been in declining popularity in Japan ever since OOT, for a remake of the last big game on the series to outsell a new game (released on the same holiday as Pokemon X/Y & Monster Hunter 4) it's really not that surprising.

Also take into account that OOT 3D came out during a time when there really wasn't anything else worth owning on the system, as far as Japanese appeal goes the 3DS has come along way since.

Don't expect Zelda U to do that well either, I'm fully expecting Persona 5 on PS3 to outsell it.

Also, games that have a 2 in the title don't sell as well.

We're jumping the gun a bit here. MM3D hasn't outsold anything yet.

SW4 II is as if it were SW4 XL. It cannot be compared imo. They should have added more to the game imo to get decent sales.

1 Char is commonplace nowadays for XL games. And it looks overall a smaller game then SW4.
