I don't think that would work out well.

Competition makes Nintendo and Sony system better. If Nintendo and Sony merged and made a super system, there would be less competition, and less of a drive to make good exclusives.

After all it's not like Microsoft makes much to appeal to the market outside of USA, especially Japan. If all the good platformers are on this Nintony/Sontendo then there would be much less drive to make them better. Same for RPG's and other exclusives which aren't popular in the West.

that's my gaming wetdream.  I would want Sony to make the hardware components in the box.  Have both work on the controller (at least they both like symmetrical analogs).  Combine those first party studios and you would have an unbeatable software lineup.  All the platforming goodness and classic franchises of Nintendo along with the network cababilities and new IP of Sony.  The Nintendo Playstation.  Make it happen guys.

Sony? Until my dead. I will love and support all that time.

Why would you ever love a large corporation?  The only thing about you that they love is your money.  If Sony's shareholders thought that their shares would increase in value faster if they made toasters instead, the board would oust the CEO for one that would make Sony a toaster only company.  I myself have really liked products from companies, but would never say that I love a "large corporation".

Stop hating and start playing.

At least until they receive a worldwide price cut. In Wii U's case not until a successor is ready. Vita is a minor part of Sony's business; Wii U is a fundamental product for Nintendo. They need to ride that out until all games are out even if it's not doing well until it's at least 5 years old.

"Vita is a minor part of Sony's business; Wii U is a fundamental product for Nintendo"

I would very strongly disagree, and the reason being is that The trend's in consumer electronic's for this part of the market Sony see's the PSVita as an extension of that trend, and cannot just up and give up on this area of investment.

The reason being TV's are the Hub's for the Living room and Mobile device's are an extension now to that Hub. pretty much all Mobile smart devices are in direct linkage through a box like Sling, or a Game console in the case of Playstation Vita with the PS3 and now the PS4. That Sony also see's that, you as a company can no longer ignore that investment if you want to stay viable in this part of a growing market.

Why do you think Microsoft is Making Smartglass also?

This is the trends going forward Mobile smart devices in a wireless connection or wired to a Hub of some sort for your living room, those companies that fail to invest into that market Dynamic will in effect loose out.

the PSVita is just as important as Sony's experia line to bridge that gap for "Taking your content on the go" any where and any time. instead of the living room's wall's making it isolated the Smart Device extends the boundry of the living room wall's past the living room wall's for your content. that is the trend's moving forward and Sony seem's to be very heavy invested into making sure they are on the forefront of such a trend.

Vita might have a chance in Japan.

It started out a little worst then the PSP but the PSP had a long stretch where it was under performing until Monster Hunter caught fire and developers started porting/creating PS2 games on the system rather then go for the more expensive PS3 or the underpowered DS. It is unlikely to grow that much in most Western territories but it will probably be over 2 years before you can count the Vita down for the count.

The Wii U has less time.

I'd say 20 months depending on how the system fairs once they get more triple AAA titles on it. The fact is, Nintendo tried to be slick, like they were with the Wii and their usual handheld upgrades but failed to have the software or the teams ready to develop them in HD. Now they are scrambling and if they don't pull out of the nosedive they launched the system into with one of their biggest franchises, the only thing they can/should do is declare it a loss and begin the work on the next system that should be able compete better.

Well, you could put it nicely like that. I was going for something else, though,

Yea, but some corporations put a higher price on specific values.

Sony, like most Japanese company's, put a lot of value on reliability. For consoles reliability isn't as huge of an issue, since most systems (except my 360) last a whole generation. However for cars, reliability plays a big role.

Yes, the call to make products more reliable is largely to build a dedicated fanbase (a lot of people only buy Japanese cars for this reason, my neighbours only have Toyota's for instance), and in ethomaz's case they made their decisions to get a dedicated fan, but that's just it.

People will "love" large corporations just because they trust that brand and they choose to dedicate themselves. Sony has done a lot to earn the trust of gamers, they made a lot of great new IP's this gen, where MS and Nintendo have not, they have brought the price of the PS3 down, so that more people can play, and they consistantly a large number of great games annually, where 360 only gets 2-3 good exclusives a year, and Nintendo releases quality products less consistantly over time.

----

I love Sony and Nintendo because they constantly put out quality products, and unlike Microsoft, I don't feel "milked" for cash. Microsoft kinda abandoned the core after 2009, there is only so much Halo and Gears that I can play, and I don't feel I need to get every Forza anymore since FM4 didn't really improve upon the game at all. Plus I'm kinda sick of XBL and how first party products design achievements which require you to own a Kinect, have a online subscription, or have new copies of other 1st party games (and this is only going to get worse with the Infinity).
