Great to see how well PS3 is doing. Even the PS2. I wish we could have the numbers seperate so we can finally say yes the PS3 passed the 360 (which I think it has looking at these)

PS3 shipments up until the end of FY 2011 + PS3&PS2 shipments in FY 2012.

Therefore 80.4m - PS2 shipments in FY 2012 (unknown) = PS3 total shipments.

PS3 and 360 are very, very close either way.

We'll have confirmation on whether or not PS3 has passed 360 when Sony announces the final total PS2 shipment number, which I'm assuming they'll say some time in the near future.

The handheld side of the Sony's business seems to be holding well after all. PSP/Vita actually flat is kind of good somewhat.

If the PS3 were to have overtaken the 360 for 2nd place, wouldn't Sony issue a press release?

They wouldn't. It's really not THAT impressive for a commercial company to be celebrating that your product have outsold the competitors product 7 years after release. It IS impressive for us gamers though :)

And PS3 is UP in the quarter the DOWN is for the FY,

They can't quote someone because neither MS or Sony has a method to track sales. They can only reference shipped numbers or quote tracking services like NPD, GFK, etc.
