1. Is reggae a big thing in Jamaica still? (i love reggae)
2. What is the countries relation to the UK? I know that the queen is still the head of state, like some of our former colonies
3. What is the standard of life like there?
4. Is it dangerous to live in Jamaica? due to crime and hurricanes
5. How true is the stereotype of Jamaicans? (smoking weed etc)

1. Reggae is considered old school dancehall has become the dominant Music.

2. The Queen is respected but the Jamaican government makes their own decisions.

3. Once you have money you are good.

4. No it is not dangerous, some communities crime can and will happen to you. But overall Jamaica is relatively safe.

5. It's true, about 15% of the population smoke weed on a regular basis. and about 50% or more have tried it. There is about 3 million people living in

Jamaica, so about 450,000 people smoke weed on a regular basis mostly the young people. I am probably being conservative and it is possible it can be lower, but that should be the close to the real number.

Cool, thanks for the answers but 1 more question :)

What parts of Jamaica would you recommend to visit, as a tourist?

I would love to go there, just for the hot weather and beaches. Both of which, lack in the UK lol

The two main tourist areas are Montego Bay and Negril there are others but those are the most popular.

I recommend Montego Bay as I live here and don't know too much about Negril.

How do the Jamaican people feel about the IMF returning to 'rescue' them? Are the bad feelings about the IMF's last few visit still strong with the people?

My questions are going to be very specific and somewhat technical from now, so I hope you are equipped with the info I seek.

How do Jamaicans feel about Ben Johnson (the Canadian 100m athletic sprinter who won in the Olympics in Seoul 1988 but was disqualified for doping)?

Do you guys watch these puppet shows up in Jamaica? They're pretty popular in the southern islands. It's basically .... representing everyday life in Trinidad. I think the parlance is kept at a minimum, so even Americans should be able to understand it.

Jamaicans are very basic yet culturally reach people. Jamaicans dont really pay any attention to the government. The government dont care about the people and the people dont care about the government even though some want a change.

The voter turn out was like 20 percent of the population in the last major election.

The vacation videos make jamaica look really nice but there is poverty here. the minimum wage in jamaica is $250 a month. People still cant even provide for there basic needs. clothes food and shelter.

Many people go hungry some days because they cant afford to eat properly everyday and cant even buy good clothes or send their kids to school (you have to pay to go to school here school books and all) some parents cant afford to send there kids to school or 1 child out of 3 can go to school so the rest stay home and dont get an education.

I told you guys I would let you know jamaica.

Dudus. From what i know he is basically a major drug lord. America wanted him and after many people dying Jamaica finally told america where he was.

He is still incarcerated in the USA and probably will never see the light of day outside prison walls.
