I have a love/hate relationship with open world games. I'm the type of player that likes/needs to explore everything, so open world game can be tiring. I also sometimes spend way too much time on side missions.

Love them, every game is better when they have an open world. Played the Red Faction games and i am not a fan of number 1 or 2, but 3 is awesome because they made a open world game

This is weird - I know
I don't like GTA (except S.A.) or Red Dead, Skyrim, Saints Row, inFamous, Fallout etc....
... but my favorite of this gen. is Just Cause 2.

100% trophies and 98% game complete.

Mainly because open worlds engines have lousy graphics. JC2 on the other hand is F...King beautiful (and fun to play).

I love open world games. I love the freedom of doing whatever I want,at my own pace. It's like the utopia of gaming in my mind. Rockstar is the best at doing this in my mind,no other company has come close, from a non-rpg point of view. The company that makes the skyrim games are also at the top of the list from an rpg perspective.

XENOBLADE~!

But ya -if you have the time then I think most people can enjoy messing around in an open world experience. The best open world games can be an example of gameplay that allows a player to decide new and meaningful ways to play

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
